Going on 45 days with no car!
Purchased my 18 ss 1LE in April. August 7th engine completely locked up. 2 weeks later its fixed by Jeff Gordon chevrolet in Wilmington nc. 7 days later im driving to Raleigh nc and the engine starts knocking really bad. i take it the nearest dealership which is capital Chevrolet. 2 weeks go by and not a single update. I call everyday and get the same bs run around about them being busy. Finally get a call saying gm is replacing my camshaft..... ok kool. Another 2 weeks go by i get a call saying gm has now said they are sending a completely new engine to be put in. Here we are today 14 days after that conversation and still haven't heard what's going on with my car. I've called GM and opened a case to have them compensate me for the depreciation of my car seeing as how it only has 1900 miles snd the numbers will not match so the car is going to depreciate drastically. I would like to hear your guys thoughts on this insane situation!

I feel your pain. I’ve been without my car for 4 weeks. Waiting on an engine replacement. Dealer has no idea when the new engine will arrive.

I am speechless, two engines fail in less that 2000 miles? Are you breaking these things in? Cant even imagine how this could happen normally.

Ouch! Sounds like AFM lifters with the knocking, cam replacement then total replacement.
I haven't looked into it but if the car depreciates a lot if the motor is replaced then it's worth looking into getting GM to buy it back. |

Thats exactly what it was. Crankshaft went first then it was the camshaft.

Sounds like your car may easily qualify for a buy back with it being out of service for 45 days for the same problem.

You've had some very unfortunate luck. I don't think the numbers matching is a big deal.
I think 2 weeks is a reasonable timeframe to have a failed engine diagnosed, new engine ordered and installed. That's about what it was for me with a different vehicle. |

I'm on week 5 now. Still waiting on a motor. No ETA. Had to open a claim with GM.

Finally got the car back today. Drove it from Raleigh to myrtle beach with no issues. Pray to god she's at 100% from here on out.

#jealous Glad to hear you got it back! Another week down for me. No eta. Next week is week 7. Did you open a claim with GM? Did they make car payment for you?
