Had 1100 miles at my first oil change (to Super-tech 5w30 dexos). Then I read a thread on this forum with the crate engine breakin procedure that says change at 500mi.

I changed again ~3k (Valvoline 5w30 dexos) and ~6k (to Mobil1 4w40 dexos2) when the OLM first alert popped up at 20%. Blackstone labs tests for the 3k and 6k changes on the Supertech and Valvoline were perfect.

750, right before winter storage. Then 1,500 after break-in - and every 2,000 miles after that.

Can someone post a pic from the manual where it says 500 miles?

The manual says change when the DIC read 0% oil life.

You can follow that if you want to. These DI engines (all mfgs) seem to be built on pretty tight clearances and are very sensitive to clean oil. I chose to go on the conservative side and replaced around 50% life reading. Others are more conservative. Some folks follow the GM recommendation, which I find a bit risky personally. Most cars these days do not require an early break in oil change and simply recommend the normal change interval right from the start. On both my newer chevys I went with the ~50% reading. On the new Jeep we bought for our daughter to drive I just went with 5K which is more the normal change timing.

Here is the recommended procedure from the Track Prep Guide, which is a supplement to the Owner's Manual:

https://camarosofmichigan.com/2018/2..._guide-min.pdf

Reference the "Recommended first oil change" section. I don't believe this is included in the original revision of the Owner's Manual, but you can reference your own for closure there.

3100 miles. Haven't changed mine yet. Oil life at around 55%. I'll probably do it at 5K.

GM has "suggested" the first change in the first 1500 miles. They famously had a new Corvette at Car and Driver lunch an engine at 3000 miles due to machining particles from an oil filter. They realized they had liability there, and since these owners run their engines harder than most.

I just change it when the car tells me to. Most of my miles are "good" highway driving and remote start is one of the great inventions of my lifetime.

I did add a quart one time and wow, there are alot of different kinds of oil on the shelf these days. I had to get my maintenance file out to figure out what kind to get.

I did my first oil change at 500 miles, then whenever the Oil Life Gauge drops to 10-15% after that. I only drive the car 100-200 miles a month, so I change the oil based on the gauge life.
