I don't drive the Camaro much in the dark, but when i do I can't see shit. The projector cut off is non-existent and anything below that barely lights up the road. I've done multiple retrofits before I don't want to go down that road again with this car. I can't justify $500+ worth of projectors for the off chance i'm driving at night. I live in a very rural area with tones of wildlife and the stock lights barely give me any warning.

Has anyone swapped in aftermarket bulbs and noticed an improvement? I don't want anything super blue in the 8000k range, just looking for better performance.

Yeah, my car has excellent lights. In fact maybe too good, I get flashed more often than I'd like for high beams when I don't even have them on. I think this is normal for LED projectors and the more blue light they produce, many folks hate them.

This car has outstanding HID headlights and you seem to be the first or at least one of the first to mention visibility issues in the dark. Have your HID bulbs and/or your eyes checked. If you're still running the originals in your 2017, they may be close to end of life by now.

Being flashed by other vehicles doesn’t mean your headlights are bright, it just means they are aimed incorrectly. The brightness level is just awful and its not a surprise that chev cheaped out on HIDs. Not all projectors are equal, I’ve had Morimoto Bixenons swapped in before and they are far superior. I might try different bulbs and if that doesn’t work I may look into retrofitting again.

Sorry, but no, my lights are indeed aimed correctly... Maybe something is wrong with your lights?

The OEM bulbs are about as good as you can get for output.. Phillips 4300k. If you want more light use a higher power ballast or change the projector

I was thinking they might be too high and you are only getting the lower edge of the beam pattern on the road in front of the car. Thinking if they were down some you might get more direct light on the road.


Mine has a clear cut off, and good forward road illumination, and nice side of the road as well.

Of all the shortcomings of these cars, headlamp brightness was not on my list.
I guess it depends on what you are use to using previously. I had a C6 and the only thing missing in this department is separate functional driving/fog lamps on the Camaro.

I enjoy seeing where I'm going at night, but don't have a problem with the Camaro lighting.

I do as well and am curious to know what else you drive/have driven in the past to compare?

These lights are as good or better than any I have had, including aftermarket and my new suburban

Trust me ,these guys don’t give you much advance warning.

Previous vehicles had Acura 4TL-R and the FX-R 3.0 bixenon projectors with the same Phillips bulbs in the Camaro. Maybe I’m just used to a brighter and sharper beam than what’s stock in the HID Camaro. I may look into the Bi-LED projector from Morimoto, maybe it will fit into the stock headlight housing.

Those definitely sound like better lights than anything I have owned,so in fairness I can understand why you are disappointed with the camaro

19+ Camaros all have LED headlights, just saying. They are different from the 16~18 SS, which uses HID headlights.

I think they are fine, though probably not the best headlights I have ever had.
