I did the paint correction an ceramic coating myself. Paid a shop 800 for full front end, splash guard areas, mirrors, partial hood an rear bumper/trunk area. Really pisses you off when you chip through your ppf though!

That's it. I'm quitting my career as an Engineer and doing PPF and ceramic coating. LOL

The peace of mind is definitely worth the money. For you guys in Canada it’s even more worth it. I didn’t know you guys only got 50 of these for the entire country.

Money well spent dude. Guess what, in two weeks you’ll get another pay check and two weeks after that you’ll get another one. As long as you’re financially stable, you’re good.

At the best PPF shop here in Los Angeles (they do perfect work on all the local Veyrons, Chirons, Sennas, P1s, 918s, LaFerraris, GT3RSs--4.5 stars on Yelp) they charged me $2000 for Expel on the full front clip on my ZLE, with satin on the hood and mirrors. This is all I needed, covers the main impact areas on the track. I don't get the need for ceramic after that.

Correct. Ceramic on Clear Bra is just to give some č, tea. POP! Plus the hydrophobic properties makes it. A snap to wash and keep clean.

The 3 stone chips I got where all on the side of the car. Front door and 2 on the rear quarters. Those damn wide tires .

Looks great, but all of that money in correction and PPF and you could have at least applying a tire coating or dressing before taking pictures lol.

Honestly though, it looks killer. I love that color.

$2k is a bit on the high side but quality of install is a MAJOR issue, it's an art and $2k is reasonable for a perfectly done job. After doing the front bumper myself I can see how you can spend a ton of time to do a good job. Even an average application is very labor intensive.

I recently used a ceramic product for the 1st time, and it's worth it. Very hydrophobic, paint feels very slick and looks super-glossy, car doesn't get as dirty.

I used Carpro Hydro2Foam diluted 10:1 in a spray bottle, wipe on a freshly washed car with microfiber, hose off and dry car like normal. Can be used as a carwash soap but I'd only do that in a foam cannon otherwise it gets too dilute to work it's best.

Hydro2Foam seems to last a few months washing my car every other week or so. Most long-lasting ceramic coatings seem to need refreshing at similar intervals, so I don't see the point but I've never tried it.

Try doing the front bumper yourself and I'm 1000% sure you'll change your mind!

Oh I know. Had a buddy at a local shop practice on my front bumper. I don't have the patience for that stuff. However, I did do paint correction and ceramic coated the whole car myself. That was very labor intensive and took a lot of time. I can't imagine applying PPF to the front clip (I also had a shop in Atl quote $2,000 for PPF front clip). Stuff is incredible though, I'd recommend to anyone.

Looks great! Are you planning to track the car though? That PPF will need to be replaced relatively often on front facing surfaces if so, depending on how aggressively you follow/pass. Otherwise it will end up looking as bad as the paint would.

I just don't see the cost benefit in applying the clear bra. At the cost for install $6500 + removal say approx. $1200, plus additional paint correction $500 - 1000K after removal.

I feel like I could get the entire car repainted by a good shop.
Except at what point do you repaint the car? 1 rock chip? 10?
I feel like I'd constantly be waiting for "enough" before I justified painting it and then I'd be driving around with a rock chipped car.

The advantage I tell myself is that the clear bra is always nice and you don't want to be careful when washing. I also find it improves door ding resistance.

Thanks! Still looking for a dressing gel that doesn't sling. About to do some research.

I had Xpel Ultimate Plus on my 2015 ZL1 for 2 years which included 4 track days. It held up very well. No problems from DD but yes at my last track day I did get one small tear through the front bra.

I think with this car I will also do Xpel Ultimate Plus, but for track days I'll add the tracwrap to be safe.
