Thinking about trading in to get A10

I've about had it with the A8 transmission. Jerky town driving and stupid hard shifts(sometimes) when stomping the gas.

I love everything about my car except that. 2016 2SS Convertible, Hyper Blue.

Ideally I would upgrade to a ZL1 with the new 10spd, but those are few and far between it seems like.

I found a 2019 orange(my favorite color) 2SS, I might be the only one who doesn't mind the front end of the 2019 2SS.

I still owe approx the KBB value on my car. What do people think of this deal?

Jerminator, the ZL1 was the first GM car to get the A10, so it's had it since 2017, even though it's taken a few years to show up in the SS and V6 models starting in 2020. ZL1s are harder to find, but I'd get what you want even if you have to order one.

I would say its a good decision if you are not willing to tune the A8. The A8 tuned is a different animal...stock it sucks!

You have to do what’s best for your situation. If you can get a good deal on the ‘19 SS then why not go for it! I like that orange too but couldn’t afford a new ZL1 so I got a used 2017 in silver. Go to the dealer that has the one you want and run figures to see if you can get into it for a decent price but you will probably take a beating on your 2016 if you trade in because they will have to do the payoff on the amount you owe. But you know if you are sick of the 8 speed auto then it might be worth losing some money to get the upgrade A10 2019 2SS! Good luck.

I am willing, now that I think about it. It's out of warranty so nbd anyway. I should probably look in to this, considering there's a class action lawsuit against GM that basically says they suck because they won't properly tune it.

Agreed that the A8 problems are frustrating. My Camaro has it too. Have you considered taking it in for the latest fluid flush and maybe the relearn? Your powertrain warranty should still be in effect and cover the work for free. So far I haven't seen any "bad" posts from forum members after the latest fluid flush so I'm willing to give it a try before throwing in the towel.

Over on the vette forums that is the general consensus. A lot of them have had the new fluid for more than 5000 miles. There's a thread about the A8 problems on here and everyone so far it seems hasn't had the shudder return and it shifts better than new.

Here's hoping. Mine FINALLY gets done Friday, as the dealers transmission flush machine was broken and the part took two months to come in

And while you are tuning add a ported manifold, TB, Rotofab dry, and possibly E85 and enjoy owning an 11 second A8 Camaro.

I had my torque converter replaced and multiple fluid flushes. The shudder hasn't returned with the new converter. But it still shifts like a 15 year old learning to drive a manual. Last time I had it looked at they said "oh you had it in sport mode, it shifts harder sometimes when it's in there"

Tried that. Still terrible.

This is zero help for your situation, but I will just say that aside from the shudder issues rampant with the A8, I really enjoy mine. Then again, it is a very low mileage car.

Look at the numbers and make your call, but I'd get the A8 tuned and maybe add 200+ hp while I'm at it... but wait, that's exactly what I did The trans is near perfect, a little slower than the A10, especially the paddles, but shifts are well timed, crisp under power and smooth when cruising, no lurches, no jerky shifts, and what's most important, no shudder.

Of course, if you can, say, find a leftover 2018 ZL1 and you don't get shafted on the trade, the A10 plus warranty could be even better. Just saying either option you choose, you will end up with a great car.
