Quick question for tuners

Question for everyone on tuning.

I have a 17 1le that I put a whipple on and used their tune through hp tuners. It came with the credits needed for the vehicle. With that being said when I have my car tuned by a local shop who also uses hp tuners. Do I need to pay them again for the credits because they have the pro version? Or should I only need to pay for the time to tune?

Thank you.

The credits are tied to the serial number of the hptuners device itself and your VIN.. If you go elsewhere you need the hptuners device used or you have to buy more credits for your VIN for the other tuners Device.

Take your cable with you and let them use it for the tune.

No sense in purchasing credits all over again.

I dont think the whipple comes with a hp tuners cable I believe it comes with just a flash tool device to apply the tune with . If he goes with a different tuner then whipple themselves he will have to pay for credits

So would they be able to use my MPVI2 to tune the computer through?

no one answered. I believe they can use you MPV12 device to program the car. you should only be charged labor. I think they can update your device to use there pro features kit for free. call your tuner. they can find out.

You will likely be paying for credits to license your Vin to the shops HPT platform and the time to tune.

Not all shops will use your HPT MPVI cable, especially if the shop hsd the MPVI Pro that allows them to data log WB O2 readings thru the HPT Scanner program and your MPVI is the regular one.

The license is tied to the MPVI/MPVI2 and not the actual HPT programs on the computer.

Correct.... I should of said MPVI device instead of platform. I have owned, operated, and tuned with HPT for over 6yrs so I am well aware how it works.
