bluetooth calls
Hello all.
On my 2013....not 2017 ford expedition i press the phone button on steering wheel and my sync comes and asks me who i want to call and i tell it whomever i need to call and she dials. on my 2017 camaro I am not sure if i am doing something wrong but when i press the voice button it opens up the phone dialing pad on the screen......IT does not ask me who i want to call.....or i cannot even just press it and speak into it with who i want to call. or do i go through the rear view mirror? but i think that is only onstar. am i doing something wrong or is that the way it works? how is that hands free? any advice would be great. thx |

The way this is supposed to work is when you press the voice button on the steering wheel, a beep sounds and you can speak various voice commands.
Once a bluetooth phone is connected to the car, phone control commands are also available, ie you can say things like "call home" or "dial 123-456-7890", but you can for example control the radio by saying "tune to xm channel 12345" at any time. If you have a USB drive plugged in, you can tell the car to play a specific track from a specific artist and the system will find where to play it from. Are you not able to speak voice commands at all when you press the button? Did you change any infotainment settings?

Very strange, I haven't seen this before, sorry It should just work out of the box and I'm not even sure one could completely disable voice control. Maybe the microphone isn't connected or has an issue, or a fuse went out.

Yes it is strange. I tried again last night and it still goes to the keypad on the screen. It dont even speak to me and ask me who i want to call or anything.
the one that does work is the little voice icon on the rear view mirror but i think that is onstar. it asks me what number i want to call. any ideas? thx |

Are you pushing and holding the button down until Siri comes on?

Maybe go into your settings and see if your cellphone is set to connect first (default). I believe I remember seeing something like this in my settings but my Camaro is a newer model than yours.

I had this problem a few times. But also with mine when I would change anything with the temp control, the screen would just randomly show up as just a grey bar at the bottom. I had to take in it a couple different times and they actually wouldn't fix anything because they "couldn't get it to act up" so they couldn't diagnose it. I had to take a video of it to show them the video that it actually was happening. But I got the video and within 2 days of me getting the video the whole screen crapped out. So they replaced something, I forget what, and that fixed all my radio problems all together.
