DCT's are generally very heavy transmissions from what I've always heard. GM has already stated that it weights more than either the M7 or A8 in the C7 and is a big contributor to the C8's 3,600+ lbs.

When you think about it what really lightweight DCT car is there? Maybe certain Porsches? GTR's are heavy. Ford also claims that why the GT500 gained between 350-400 lbs over the GT is largely due to the DCT they use. (the C8 uses an 8 speed Tremec DCT where the GT500 uses a 7 speed Tremec DCT) If I'm not mistaken the GT500's DCT is a 250+ lb tranny. When I saw a weight figure I though that it's weight is similar to the 4R100 in my Lightning which was a Super Duty Ford transmission designed for use with the old 7.3L Powerstrokes. Basically an updated E40D. Much heavier than your typical car transmission.

The C8 is 3535 lbs for a base 1LT stingray, the DCT trans and complete differential are all 1 assembly now. The differential and transmission in the C7 were 2 different asemblys.

If I would of fit in a C7, I would of bought one. Twice I went to the dealer ship trying to adjust the seat so that I could see the rd, I couldn't make it work, got a Camaro!
