Turbo Upgrades - Question

Hey guys,

Long-time lurker, really appreciate all of the great information offered around here - much of which has helped tremendously with my build to date. Will get to posting a journal for it soon, but to the question...

Has anyone purchased/installed either of the Turbo Bay turbo upgrades for the 2.0T Camaro? Specifically interested in dyno sheets or 1/4 mile slips with before and afters. I realize it might be difficult to find someone who installed only the turbo and did a before and after for that alone - so I don't mind if the before and afters include several other upgrades as well... just looking for some real-world numbers from someone running one of them as a place to start.

If someone is aware of a thread with this information, please let me know - I've got no issue doing the reading myself, but have been unable to find one.

Thanks for your help.

I can't provide much info, but I do have a turbo bay turbo here that I will probably be installing some time this spring/early summer, will report back at that time.

Would love to see what numbers it can put down vs the stock turbo

Will keep an eye out for sure - hopefully others have already taken the plunge since I'd like to upgrade myself on about the same schedule.

Dude, I know you're on the other forum. People have been running this turbo for YEARS over there.

I really do wish you the best of luck. Wish you would have listened to my tuning advice. There are a lot of little gremlins that will bite you in the ass when you use an inexperienced tuner. Let me know the first time your throttle snaps shut during a WOT pass...

No one here has used that turbo yet. Several guys over at cadillacforum.com have used it successfully. You might want to start your search in the LTG section over there.

Oh, and honestly, you can build your own upgraded turbo for MUCH less than turbobay is asking. The wheels are around $100 each from Kinugawa, then you need a $60 rebuild kit and a balance. You could put this together yourself, minus the balancing, for less than $300.

Redline Motorsports has been tuning LTG engines since 2013 with the ATS.. I'm sure they are capable of doing the dyno tune.. but I will let you know how things work out..

Is that the guy I had mentioned before that posts under lt1350z or something similar on Cadillac forum? If so, he also knows his shit about the turbobay turbo.

Will give the Cadillac forum from the other post a look. I assume there are probably a few people over there who went this route as well? Pricing in this range would allow for an immediate upgrade which would be great. Thanks much.

don't waste your money on a stock frame turbo. Buy the zzp zfr bolt on turbo.

I don't think anyone over at CF has built their own turbo. They have gone with the upgraded units from either Pfadt (out of business), Vermont Tuning (significantly over priced), and TurboBay. You also might want to contact Turbo Labs of America. It's a solo operation, so it can take a while to get a reply, but he generally has the BEST prices I've seen when looking for upgraded turbos for my BMW 550i.
