Side curtain airbags deployed
Add another 2011 Camaro to list of side curtain failures. I had TC off low speed oversteer, slid back the other direction and they went off. By the time the bags deployed I had the car going in right direction. 4 wheels never left the track, no rumble strips, etc.

there have been a few reports here on the forum of this. You can push these cars pretty hard on the track, with the right setup and the ECM thinks you are "out of control" and does what it's programmed to do to protect your life. Even a few calls from OnStar to see if you are alright since the car either launched very hard or took a turn on a track at a ridiculous rate.

My car was not pushed hard. I am still very much novice. This was a fishtail and the airbags popped. It is ridiculous that it even happened.

Oil pump failures, air bag going off for no reason... I'm starting to wonder now

I watched another video where this happened to an individual that was running cut outs. They pointed the exhaust to the exterior of the car near the mid point or where the door engages the latch. This is the area where the side curtain air bag sensors are apparently located. The continuous noise from the exhaust supposedly set them off.

I do not know what will happen in my case. I had my mechanic price out the bags as there are plenty out there used. Each bag will cost about $350. Looks like about $1500 for parts
Silveradoss573 - After I get car fixed up, I will install race harness and disable airbags at track (fuse pull) |

This happened to a guy in a Gen 5 SS back in January at MSRH for a NASA weekend. Just going down the straight, no big bumps or rumble strips.
I pull my fuse now for track time. Airbag light comes on but who cares.
