Thousands of specks of sap

So my car is covered in sap from sitting at the dealership, thought it was overspray but luckily it’s not. However I cleaned the windshield and it took a lot of windex and scrubbing to remove it. What’s the safest way to remove it from the paint without scratching it? I was thinking of using warm water but I wanted to check with you guys to see what you think

I would start with a couple of warm and thick soapy washes, probably just use Dawn soap.

Yeah I’ll try that, I just want to be as careful as I can since it has been repainted in a few areas too

If it’s tough, mineral spirits is safe for paint. Let it dwell a bit before wiping.....

Hand sanitizer will remove tree sap easily. It does contain alcohol, so you will need to re-apply protection to your paint after use.

The repainted area has to gas out (cure) completely before you can apply a wax or sealant on it, so for the repainted areas, don't put wax or sealant on them until it is fully cured, usually 60-90 days.

It’s weird that the body shop waxed the repainted areas.. so maybe it’s good to strip the paint. But otherwise it’s fairly safe to wash it?

To echo what Glen said, either mineral spirits or Zippo lighter fluid in which both are petroleum based so their safe on the clear coat. I use the Zippo fluid to remove road tar from the rocker panels and rims.

I've had it on other vehicles of mine and warm, to a little hot with good amount of suds would always take care of it. now, if its been sitting on the pain long time? well not sure if you need a different route. But if I see something like that, I never let it sit for more than a few days.

Yeah it’s been sitting on the car for about 5 days now, I’ve been waiting on some stuff I ordered to wash the car safely, it’s been sitting in my garage so I’m hoping it won’t get any harder to remove. I’m afraid to touch the thing!
