They offered me a great price on my 17 1LE just not wild about them picking up car then sending check 3 to 4 days later ( 2,900 miles on car ) is that the normal way just has me guessing why not bring check when they pick up ,

Nope! Don’t do that!

I sold my former SS 1LE to Carvana (same process as Vroom) couple years ago and had them direct deposit the cash into my bank account. No issues whatsoever. Easiest transaction ever selling a car. Gave more money than any place else at that time and the money was in my account within 24 hours.

yep, i've bought & sold to them. to answer your question, they use outside contractors for transportation, so getting a hand-to-hand exchange would not be feasible. the process of electronic deposits is pretty standard these days. if you're worried about something like that, you should sell to someone that has cash in their hands.

bought- BMW Z4, got a good deal, no problems.

sold- the same Z4, got a fair price, no problems. however... i sold it back to them, agreed on a price. someone hit the car before it was picked up. they wanted me to not have it fixed & just pay me less; fine. they fixed it themselves therefore the history showed up as "no accidents" for sale on their site. this isn't super-shady, because i know it happens all across the market. but i would be quite cautious about buying from them again knowing this.

Recently sold my wifes impala to carvana. Gave us $5k more than the 4 dealers we went to ...were going to give us on trade. Easiest thing to do.... we have ever done. Paid us right on the spot, when they picked it up. They sold her car three days later for $1300 more than we got paid, but we basically got retail to begin with. Two thumb's up for us anyway.

Thumbs up

Mr Bill:
  • If you need a 2nd option, I sold my 2012 AMG C63 Coupe with 80K miles to Carvana.
  • Great experience, the pickup inspection took 15 mins max at my apartment, gave me a check right then, drove the car away.
  • I had a friend buy a car from Carvana too before that - equally great experience.

Not looking to sell, but just tried Carvana for an estimate. They offered 52.8k for my car with 3k miles. Seems pretty low to me. With that said, I just sent my info into VROOM (an experiment of sorts). I’m curious what they’ll come back at. I’ve tried Carvana a couple times with different cars and they always seem way low.

Never tried Vroom, but Carvana's offers are low...I just sold my 08 Highlander to a local dealer for 2k more than the Carvana offer.

Sold a Mustang GT to Vroom. They gave me the best price. Don’t expect to get paid fast. Between accepting offer, car picked up, and getting paid, took well over a month. Maybe that’s not the norm though.

Interesting... I plugged in my car and they offered $38.5k on my 1LE. I paid $35.5k for it CPO from a Chevy dealer. Not looking to sell it, but even after TT&L I could get out of it with a little profit after driving it for 5k miles and having fun for half a year.

For what it's worth, I sold my '14 Jeep JK to Carvana before I got the 1LE and it was a breeze. Carvana did show up with a check in hand for the transaction though.
