Further ZL1 build recommendations

Hey,

I am looking for recommendations to my build.

Current specs are:
  • 9.17" lower pulley
  • Soler LT5 ported TB
  • Rotofab CAI (not Big Gulp)
  • VelossaTech air inlet
  • Pierburg CWA100 intercooler pump
  • Upgraded Heatexchanger
  • DMS Fender tank
  • MightyMouse CC
  • Vengeance Racing ECU/TCM tune
  • Kooks 1 7/8" headers
  • NGK 6510 spark plugs

What should be my next step to achieve more hp/tq? Having in mind that I do not want to put cam/head or touch engine internals. My personal thoughts now are going 2650R, but I do not know which fueling mods I'll need in this case.

Any feedback and suggestions would highly be appreciated.

P.S.: Please note that I am located far outside of United States and engine internals work is very complicated for people here.

Based on the mods that you've made so far, what's your current WHP and Torque? And what are your goals?

Thank you for reply.

Currently, I have ~ 596 rwhp and 779 Nm (575 lb ft) tq according to dyno here. My goals are to have weekend-driven car, ideally no meth no E85 which can beat 5s 100-200 kmh - the way we compete here

My stable results currently are 5.7-5.8s with best of 5.49s. I assume I need to find ~100rwhp to get there.

send the stock blower out for porting
upper pulley
and get a better tuner. there's no reason you cant break 600whp with what you have

5.5s 100km/h - 200km/h is pretty damn good for the mods you have!
No need to change your tuner, Vengeance knows these cars!
I would say next would be: larger Throttle Body, Ported blower & Pulley, or 2650. This will also require more fuel! For sufficient fueling you will need a cam with a bigger fuel lobe, or port injection. You also need a better low side fuel system. (Aux pump, Booster, or Fore system). The closest shop I know that is doing really good work on LS and LT engines is in Austria. https://www.coolchevy-raceparts.com
Heinz Schenk is known all over Europe.
You could also send him just the Engine, if it is too far to bring the whole car.
He is currently working on my friends ZL1 from Poland.

Just added 30% XDI Injectors, LPE big bore hpfp, Flex fuel.
Elite tuning, results coming soon.

My guess is the dyno read very low, probably making more power than was indicated. I've got full bolts, ported blower, e25, and I dynoed at 577 whp, 610 tq. I'm confident its more like 675 because I'm maxed out on high side pressure.

Vengeance has a good reputation so the tune is probably spot on.

Like Swiss said, you're gonna need more fuel if adding more air. Regardless of how you add air, ie ported blower, 2650r, etc, you need port injection, or bigger injectors, better pump, and cam with bigger fuel lobe. Since you don't want to touch internals, port might be the best option

Thank you, our dynos here read always low. I consider 5.5 as a good result which shows that car is actually fast, but I need more to get into 4.*s

My idea for now is finally to put a cam with bigger lobe since my car is 2018 and they tend to fail oil pumps and I'll open my engine in any case. Together with a cam I would like to add some E25-E40, but I have no idea what I should do with fuel system for now.

Thank you. Austria is pretty far from Ukraine where I am unfortunately.

My plan for next mods now is a cam with bigger lobe and E25-E40, but I am not sure that fuel system will handle this. At the same time I really do not want to drill the fuel tank for aux pump since they tend to leak.

  • Soler LT5 ported TB NO if you port blower
  • Rotofab CAI (not Big Gulp) YES
  • VelossaTech air inlet Why Not if it works with the roto fab
  • Pierburg CWA100 intercooler pump NO stewart is the best
  • Upgraded Heatexchanger Not really spend the money for a better pump and more capacity
  • DMS Fender tank nah doesn't hold enough unless you do both this and a bumper
  • MightyMouse CC YES
  • Vengeance Racing ECU/TCM tune yes
  • Kooks 1 7/8" headers YES

Thank you. I have already upgraded intercooler pump CWA100 which is kinda good (https://tecomotive.com/en/products/CWA100.html) and fender mount tank (https://dedicatedmotorsports.com/ZL1-2GAL/). Both are good and my IAT temps stay in a good range.

However, unfortunately, it isn't possible to port blower properly in Ukraine - no way sending it back and forth to USA due to customs. So for now I should either stay with stock blower or put 2650 which is a big investment and I would prefer doing it next step.

Having this in mind can you please advise me if camshaft with bigger lobe will be a good idea for now till next season?

Good idea, I did the same thing. Cam, lifters, and a Katech Oil pump.
If you can't find anyone capable doing the work in your Country you could always ship the Motor by itself to someone..

I didn't want to drill my fuel tank either, and went with the JMS Voltage booster. But now that I want more , I have to change the low side again. The option is Fore Innovation pumps, or wait for the Deatschwerk dual intank unit, that should come out soon.
I also want to run Ethanol, and decided to upgrade the high side also. Go with a 38% cam over the 32% if you ever want more down the road. Or even 43% with the LPE big bore pump. Saying that because I regret I only went with the 32% fuel lobe back then...

I'm right there with you, parts are on the way. Going cam with 38% lobe, Johnson lifters with other valvetrain upgrades, ported heads with super alloy exhaust valves, and katech pump. I have an 18 with 4/18 build so not taking any chances. Only lowside upgrade I have now is jms booster. Hoping for e40 also.

Waiting to see what the new DW unit has to offer, not into taping the tank for aux because of the issues I've heard with fuel starvation on hard turns. Although I wonder if that can be rectified by tapping both sides of the tank? Thats been my only idea while I wait to see other aftermarket offerings

Ahh yes, missed the part where it said vengenace was the tuner, figured it was someone local in Ukraine. Probably a low dyno read indeed then!
