will 2020-2021 ZL1s be collectable ?

thinking about buying a new convertible before the end of the year and looks like there are not a lot out there for sale. wish they gave more options for interior colors but it is what you have to choose from.

thank for your input
Mark

Short answer - No. There's really nothing special about them.

Maybe the 2023 Manual ZLE as it is the last of the breed, end of an era kinda thing.

Value might go up 3-5k over MSRP after a few years. Of course I’m speculating. I still would not buy one just to sell in a few years for a few grand more. I’ll pay more than that in just the taxes at purchase. Plus to not enjoy the car and not get any real pay back is dumb idea IMO.

I'm in the 'No' group. Nothing special about them. They were mass produced and were simply the highest trim level a purchaser could get in a Camaro. Maybe one could go for a premium in 30-40 years when there are only electric vehicles and these are looked at as relics of a time gone by.

Who knows? Not in the short term. 30 years from now? Who knows and who cares.

I think it will be hard for almost any modern cars to be collectible in the same sense a 69 RS/SS would be.

The technology alone is going to age, break and not be replaceable/fixable at some point. E.g. who's going to be making a replacement computer for the e-diff in 2050?

That probably doesn't happen in 15 or 20 years but in 30 I think probably.

Anyone that buys a new car as an "investment" is throwing their money away. Cars are NEVER collectible off the assembly line.

2017-2023(you mentioned 20-21)collectable No ! But I think there value will hold better, The Z28(had major discounts at 1st) and Gen 5 ZL1 hold decent value, but if GM does get rid of the camaro our value should hold better ! Enjoy your car, and if it's worth more later it's a plus ! If not, no loss enjoy anyway !

Not 100% true, people who received allocations for the Ford GT's are making a killing on their initial investment even after 5 years of ownership. People did with the 911 GT2 RS and LaFerrari as well.

That doesn't make them collectible. All of the "supercars" that use this tact of exclusivity see bumps in resale for a while and then the prices generally fall off.

Being collectible means that they will have 5, 8, 10 times their original cost in value down the road.
