New best 60’, I want more

I cut a new best 60’ last night. 1.43. The new best just makes me want more.

My set up was 325/50/15 et street r at 17psi. Viking rear shocks at 4 comp, 10 rebound, I think there are 19 clicks. Healthy burn out with lots or rocks on the tires when I get back to the pits. 4000rpm 2 step and letting it go when it gets to 7psi. This is on a foot brake, stock gen v turbo 5.3.

When I tried to leave at 9psi it spun a little right off the line and slowed down. It didn’t blow them off, more of a shudder, still got a 1.45. I could leave with quite a bit more power if I can get it to hook. Probably 4200rpm and 13psi.

Where do look first for improvements? Tire pressure? Shock settings? Skinnys sauce?

I found one site where they suggest 11-14 psi for this size of this tire. Do people go that low?

Unfortunately I don't have much in the way of advice... That's a pretty solid 60 foot!

90% of my racing with this car so far has been in Mexico so the setup is a little bit different. I have had good luck with some ballast & tire sauce on an ETR.

I do have a question though. How was the fitment of the 15" 325 ET R's. Do you think they would fit ok on stock suspension still? I am in the process of switching over to 15's and I would really like to run that tire instead of my current 305/45/17.

Thanks,

I will eventually play with some traction compound but feel there is more in it before I go there. I do have some weight in the trunk, intercooler tank and chiller are both back there and seemed to have made hooking quite a bit easier.

All you need is the basic 15” wheel kit and the 325’s will fit. I did the harness relocation awhile back too.

Thanks, appreciate the info... Do you have a preference on the 15" kits?

I see there is the usual big players, and a few options for a DIY with the 14+ CTS calipers.

I have the Carlyle brake set up. The 1st gen calipers started leaking so I got their 2nd gen ones. They seem better but not great. I never have got my pedal feel back but they do a fine job stopping the car. I only feel the soft pedal when I am mashing the brakes on the starting line.

The ctsv set up might be better than what I have.

Does it feel like it’s squatting to the right more than the left at all?

Congrats!

Nice 60'! I was able to pull off a 1.42 which was my best, and not sure if ill be able to do much better unless i spray a little more than the 40% i have it set at right now. Im on a 17 in et street r with nitrous basically off the hit on a stock converter. I would love to get a 1.3X 60' but not sure if that will be possible on the complete stock suspension.

My best 60ft on stock suspension setup was 1.40 60ft and once I did the Bmr was 1.38 when I was still on my 2300 Maggie. When I went to the 2650 my best was 1.35 and we fought traction issues sometimes with 100 more rwhp. I was on a 17" Street R and probably would have benefited with the Carlyle 15" and a 325 Street R like some have started running with a bunch of HP. Now the Turbo car will benefit most with the correct converter where mine was on the stock tranny and converter.

I’ve been playing with a new tire .. Hoosier bracket drag radial .. 305/45/17 on beadlock .. best so far is 1.38 at 21 psi air pressure .. stock suspension .. haven had them below 20 psi yet .. yesterday at 23psi cutting 1.4s .. only got two runs.. was down on power and I’m done for the year. 😞

I have a question about this tire you have, is that the 28.0/10.5 R17? thats a great 60 foot and a bunch of air!! My best on the 305/45 17 M/T ET street R's is a high 1.42 but with 17 Lbs of air in them! and they are MUCH cheaper than the M/T's!

Yes that’s them .. like said I only got 6 runs .. but they seem pretty consistent.. I was running them on the street at 30psi .. they hooked well on the street also .. but they have zero tread..so rain would be bad .. very little sway like the mickeys.
