BMR BK063?
Just wondering if anyone has done any DIY on BMR's rear cradle lock bushing kit.
I know BMR does a really good job of providing instructions, but personal insight and helpful hints always go a bit further... I've done a search with as many variations in the title as I can think of but have come up blank. I know limiting motion on my 5th Gen. was amazing in improving overall handling and confidence so I'm looking forward to this upgrade. If you're limiting yourself to springs and sways, you don't know what you're missing, IMHO. |

Just did them last week, we did use a two post lift but the BMR BK063 was easy. You can do this at home with car on jack stands also, just do front first, the rear, the instructions are good, lube up the bullets real well and as you tighten the bolts it helps seat them. We also installed the BMR trailing and control arms, excellent products. Good luck and it's pretty easy to do.

Disnt do a DIY, but posted a few pics on my build thread.
Honestly this is so rediculously easy to do, it would have took twice the time to take pics /vids to post. Its literally drop the front half of the cradle, insert the tops then bottoms, then move to the rear and repeat. Done. As said, super easy!

Finished the install today. As I had been told it was straight forward and BMR's instructs covered most of it.
I would mention there is a small screw that holds the fender liner in place and attaches to the front reinforcing brackets. It may have been easier to remove the back wheels to access them then squeezing a torx #55 wrench between the wheel and liner once the car is up on jack stands. Also I used two small bottle jacks to raise and lower the front of the cradle. Also found I needed to loosen the back reinforcing brackets to give me enuff slack to lower the front sufficiently to slide in the top bushing. I used just one jack in back 'cuz you can place it centrally. Oh, and the silver bullets were a much tighter fit than I expected but did ultimately submit! I only had a chance for a short shake down drive (with wife in the car so no real fooling around) but did note a real decrease in the back end side to side porpoising in low speed cornering that I was blaming on the heavier ZL1 sway bars. I think this upgrade is gonna make a much bigger improvement in more aggressive driving and definitely worth the effort! |
