Ideal tire pressure for high speed run?

I'm wondering how high one should go with cold tire pressures for a 180+ mph, 2-3 mile test run (hypothetically speaking). I have SS 1LE wheels and tires, except the sidewalls are 35 aspect ratio, not 30, and of course the tires are rated 186+ (Y).

For normal driving, cold pressure is set to 32 psi, and I'm thinking even 35 cold might be too low for such a run, but not sure how high one actually needs to go, if anyone has firsthand experience or a link for a somewhat scientific calculation, please post

Ah, thanks a lot RamAir02, I didn't think to check that supplement.

These tires are rated for 51 psi max pressure, so 44 psi cold is interesting(ly high)... my tire pressures increase 4-5 psi from cold even during normal, <100 mph canyon carving and presumably even more for a very high speed run, so 44 might be pushing it.

Anyway, if that's what GM says, okay, but if someone has actually done it and can confirm the cold pressure and deltas during these runs, I'd also appreciate the extra info.

No problem! I didn't even know that was in the HP Owner Supplement, but did a 3-day sub to the ACDelco TDS Service Manual last week and was saving a bunch of stuff. They have the HP Owner Supplement in a different format, so I saved all of the pages and when I saw your post today, remembered the section on Tire Pressures for High-Speed Operation.

Hopefully someone else with real world experience can chime in with an opinion.
