Not a great spot for the yellow flag, can only see it when you crest the hill.
My closest call was with a mustang, T1 at VIR he came in too hot and almost smashed into the back of my car. Luckily he decided to turn left and went into the grass and crashed by himself in the wall. I think his original claim was that I slowed down too much which is ridiculous but I think in the end he accepted it was his fault. I was roughly 5-7 seconds faster per lap than he was and he was running slicks on his car. Not to mention if I look at my video footage my speed for turn in for T1 was the same on my fast lap as it was on that particular lap he always ran into me. Wish I had a better video of the near miss but the camera doesnt really cactch it since it's facing forward. He must have missed my car by less than 1 foot. I suppose it's possible he takes a different line into turn 1, maybe wider with a late apex. But I think the was caught offguard by the closing speeds w/ hard braking from 140 MPH down to 50's. I am honestly incredibly scared of mustangs, I think every single trackday I've been to a mustang has crashed or flipped, it's pretty crazy. |

The crazy thing about my video is that it was much closer than it looked. I also was running PDR and that footage is downright frightening. I'll post it later.

Am I looking at the wrong video? I don't see anything other than a clean point by on the Corvette.

Wow, that was close for both of you!
Can I ask you to also post the video in existing Close Calls thread? The point of this thread is to collect the dangerous situations we have to be mindful about on the track, and give us perspective on how to participate in track days safely. Essentially learning to recognize the situations, or simply learning from mistakes of others. https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showt...ht=Close+calls |
