There will be some changes coming to this list. My plan is to separate each track by 3 vehicle categories:

ZL1
SS
V6/Turbo 4

Regardless of mods, the times will fall into those categories. For example, a supercharged SS will still be classified as an SS, not a ZL1. This keeps things as simple and clear as possible. This list has been difficult enough to keep updated without multiple entries for tires, air temperature, DA, etc.

You will have one entry per vehicle type, not tire type. If you want to keep your own list for your own car based on tire type and time of year, that is on you, not this list.

The times will be cut to top 10 times for EACH vehicle type. This will help reduce the time spent updating the list as well.

At the end of the day, it all comes down to driver skill. Speaking of weather conditions, wet/rain/damp laps will be clarified accordingly with a (WET) indicator at the end of the time entry.

This conversion will take a LONG, LONG TIME, so please be patient as you see some tracks get updated before others.

There is far more work involved with this thread than most think. I now know why Provoste didn't have the time to do this anymore.

Thanks for all your hard work @followmyline this list is pretty amazing. It looks like a lot of work, maybe editing duties could be shared between 2-3 people?

Why not make a google sheet that 5 or so people can edit? That would be easier to do than this in the long run. The google sheet could have drop downs for mods tires ect. Would take a while to make a nice one but that would be the hardest part. After that it's just inputting times. And with 5 or so people it shouldnt take more than a couple weeks if we take our time. I don't mind helping out to do it either. If you want I can start one and you can see if you like it or not.

Honestly, I don't think what you are suggesting is going to work well nor is it going to be less work to maintain.

Couple of thoughts/questions:
- Many people are going to miss seeing the combined/overall rankings.

- If you divide the laps into 3 categories of 10 entries each, that doesn't limit the current number of entries.

- Most tracks have only a handful of entries. Dividing those entries further isn't going to work well. A list with one or two entries isn't all that interesting.

- How many submissions do you expect to have in the V6/Turbo 4 category? I don't suspect you'll have enough to justify separate lists for each track.

- Not allowing entries for different tires removes a lot of value from the list.

- It seems a bit foolish to go through the trouble of separating the list and then allowing apples and oranges to co-exist within the same list. An SS with a supercharger is a different animal from a stock SS. I understand the desire is for simplicity, so why add complexity by splitting the lists in the first place? I'm sure this was so you could make the 10 entries per track idea work without excluding many of the lower horsepower cars, but the end result with up to 30 entries per track won't save you any time over what you're already doing. Why do it if it won't be effective?

This thread has been popular because it makes sense the way it is. You have to be careful about rules because when you have rules that don't make sense, folks are going to lose interest. If you don't have time to maintain the lists, I get it. Maybe someone else would be willing to take it over or perhaps we could divide some of the tracks into their own threads and link from the main list. That way we could get multiple people involved to help with the maintenance. Alternatively, we could all start using lapmeta.com (or something similar) to record track times. They have a nice framework started.

Before you start removing/reorganizing times in post #1, can you please take a minute to edit it and copy/paste it into a new post in this thread to archive everything that is there currently in read only format for future reference? You could also add a link to the archive post in post #1 so that people who did not make their own list beforehand still can see the old list.

A lot of time went into it in the past and it would be a shame for some of the laps from less modified cars in each category to no longer be visible in an easily searchable single post even if that format will not continue to be updated in the future.

Thank you for all of the time and effort you put into updating the list!

Agreed. Post #1 of this thread in the current format gives me a good idea of what lap times my SS 1LE is capable of on stock tires before I take a road trip to a new track and the videos on stock tires are the most helpful ones for me to watch beforehand. Those lap times might be too slow to make it onto the top 10 list for some popular tracks especially as faster times continue to be submitted and the more popular tracks are probably going to be more popular as destinations for people who have never driven those tracks before because they live far away. For example, I met another Camaro SS 1LE driver from Iowa when I visited VIR on my trip from Texas last year. Based on the tires I have seen other SS 1LE drivers using at many different track days (stock SC3s are the most common), I suspect there are plenty of others who would benefit more from seeing laps with stock tires instead of the 10 fastest laps which are often on lower treadwear tires. I also have plans to post laps on SC3Rs for some tracks in the future where I already have laps posted on SC3s but I think that it would generally be more helpful to others to only post the SC3 laps in this thread if I had to pick one or the other.

I think there might be a way to feed a form into a google sheet so that people can fill out each field on their own and it will be added to the sheet while the sheet remains read only. Certain fields could be required and others could be optional; most would be dropdowns to make filtering easier but some like modifications could allow text entry in addition to possible yes/no fields for engine mods, suspension mods, aero mods to allow some level of filtering. Other yes/no fields could include supercharger, turbocharger, headers, and tune. A link to a post in this forum could be a required field for verification of lap time pictures/screenshots and to show that the username on camaro6 matches the username they typed into the form. And of course there should be a field for a video link but it could be optional since some people only post pictures/screenshots. I guess it would have to be on the honor system with a field to enter your camaro6 username with someone (or multiple camaro6 users) having admin rights allowing for deleting lap times in case someone submits false lap times. There could also be a column for "Is there a faster lap at this track posted by the same user in the same car on the same tires" that defaults to no and admins could change this to yes if a faster lap is submitted later so that it is not necessary to delete any entries and the default view would only show the laps with "No" in this column. Or maybe there is a way to have the default sheet view only show the lap with the most recent date if there are multiple laps at the same track in the same car on the same tires posted by the same user.

I like this idea better than a top 10 format because people could filter based on all kinds of things relevant to them like the Camaro's trim, tire treadwear, etc. while a top 10 filter view overall and for different models could easily be viewed for each track that someone wants to look at.

Appreciate your time and willingness to get this done. I’m fine leaving it as is, adjusting as you intend or whatever suits your fancy.

In the end, there are many opinions here but you’re doing the work while we’re armchair experts.

Carry on 👍

I run stock SC3 so yeah, if I were to lose visibility to those running the same tires, the value of this thread will lessen significantly.
