Thank you sir, appreciate it!
Can you believe it's time for an oil change again? Car is at 4,000 miles, this time I planned ahead. I got the Mobil1 0w-40, a new filter, and a few other goodies to add on. I wanted to get the car in the air to install the anti-skip shift plug on my transmission. But before getting the car in the air I installed those lift point add-ons. From there I lift the front in two steps, each side separately. Raising the car with a low pro floor jack on those lift points and placing a stand on each left and right frame rail. The rear can be done in one fell swoop using the diff cradle/frame and then placing jacks on the rear frame along a black piece that bolts to the frame. I did not need to install the rear jack point add-ons but I figured they would be good to have if the car ever goes on a conventional 4 post lift etc. I found the install process of the anti-skip shift plug is just like most people say, very straightforward but also kind of a pain. It probably didn't take more then 15 min once the car was in the air but I had to get creative. The solenoid is tucked up there on the drivers side. I managed to get a flathead screwdriver lodged under the electrical connector tab and then was able to pull it out with one hand. Its a tight space - I could not have used my hand to unclip the connector. Once disconnected, installing the black piece used to trick the harness is easy, but installing the blank cover for the solenoid is a bit of a pain. I used a spring loaded grabber/claw thing to kind of wedge the blank plug into the solenoid receptacle (couldn't do it by hand) and then once it's close to being installed, I was able to seat it with one hand. After that, I rotated all four tires and cleaned the inside of each wheel "while I was at it". Finally, I took her to the car wash and called it a day. |

Ok yall, I've done a few little things, piece meal style so I waited until now to post the end result. I also just did the 3rd oil change this weekend with a blend of the leftover of Mobil 1 0w-40 and Mobil 1 supercar.
One of the first things I did since last time was install a clear protective film on the front end, from Xpel. My buddy who is a very good detailer is getting into installing PPF so he is cutting his teeth so to speak. I got the Xpel at a discount and helped him with the install so I didn't pay for labor. It didn't come out perfectly, a few bubles here and there but it's going to provide some much needed protection this winter and we can give it another shot next summer lol. So a while back I ordered a gloss black shifter bezel, I think it took about a month to show up but it's an OEM part that gets painted using GMs paint code. The idea here, along with some other stuff is to complete the "red line" look. Considering the car is a "budget V8" I'm not surprised there are a few areas that feel "unfinished". For example I love the gloss black inserts on the door cars but nothing else is gloss black. Additionally having grey stitching feels a bit silly but as you'll see it's actually an easy fix. One that note, the grey in general feels abit out of place for me. The more blacked out the better IMO. And as you'll see shortly. I took care of that too. |

Another day another oil change. Also - I got the car tinted! Not so much for looks but because it's black on black and I've seen what UV rays can do to an interior given a enough time. I opted to do nano ceramic 35% all around. Just a HEADS UP, up these cars (at least mine) give the illusion of looking much darker on the rear windshield. I think given the angle of the rear window and the black interior, 35% in the back looked like 5% so I had to switch to 50% to make it look the same. I also did the windshield in Llumar blue which is basically clear but gives a little blue tint and blocks UV and IR just as well.

Well, the years start coming and they don't stop coming. The Camaro is a little over one years old now. To celebrate, we opted for an Ikon Motorsport front bumper. And of course, oil change #5.

I also decided to get some "summer wheels", something that will allow for more rubber and let me keep a square set up (I much prefer square setups, mainly for handling and feel but also the ability to rotate is nice). The plan is to put snow tires on the factory 8.5" wheels. Anyway after searching for a long time and not finding a lot of options, I ended with Kansei Astros in 19x9.5 w 285s. I didn't splurge on the tires, as a matter of fact its the same tire I got from the factory. I was concerned about fitment issues and/or rubbing. 285 is the most you would wanna go on this setup but it does work. Overall very happy with my purchase. They key is to lower your car at the same time! For that I went with Phastek springs.

The install went well. It wasn't easy but no issues, just make sure when you install the rears that you leave your fasteners a little lose/hand tight and do your final torquing with the suspension on the ground, or in my case, wooden ramps. And when finished, I needed an alignment bad! Very few people would take the alignment job but I finally found a place. Of course they didn't get it quite right the first time but I explained that there is camber adjustment in the front and they were able to make it right.

Looks great - congrats!
Just curious, on your 285 tire size - did you go 285/35/19? or 285/30/19?
