Hi, my lt1 trim car will be ready for pickup next week and I’d like to find a sticky replacement tire for the all season run flats that come on it. I’ve heard they have some traction issues. Just looking to replace the rear tires and maybe get a drag pack later on. Seems like a lot of people like the continental extreme contacts. I’ve also seen the Michelin super sports, Firestone firehawk Indy 500 and the general g max. Have you guys/gals run any of these tires or can recommend any others? Thanks

I had the older Michelin ss and Indy 500 on a focus st , I liked Indy's better.I have g max summers on my Camaro.They are much better than run flats. They have a good feel to them and steer good.

I had the 500's on my Mustang, I liked those pretty well, excellent tire at that price point. I have the ECS on this 1LE and they're pretty good but the sidewall I think it's a little soft and feels vague on the front when you get aggressive with it. They're OK but I don't recommend them for that reason. Wear's well, quiet, good in the rain (not great, they do hydroplane a little on minor puddling).
The Michelin summer tire is probably where I would point myself too. Though you're going to struggle with rear grip with any tire in that width (245).

Your best bets are either the Continental ExtremeContact Sport or the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S. Both of these really should be called "three season" tires. They are extremely grippy in dry weather, and you can realistically run on them down to at least 32F (I've driven the Michelins in temps colder than that, actually). But more than anything, they are the best two tires for rainy conditions in any category. Yes, better than all-seasons. I tracked my Michelin PS4S tires on a day that started out dry and at about 32F, and then when the skies opened up at noon, I was one of two cars in my group that continued to put in laps for the rest of the day.

I have the Indy 500s, zero complaints. Traction is phenomenal and if they last what the average seems to be (25-30k miles) then I will likely buy them again.

Another satisfied long time Michelin PS4S user here.

These suckers are expensive, but they are the real deal for any spirited, yet "normal" street driving, that is, when you also care about tire noise and hydroplaning and longevity. Dry traction is very good, wet is phenomenal, and indeed they are cooperative all the way down to almost freezing temps (don't try them below that or in the snow, though, these are summer tires after all). The Continental ECS is pretty good, too.
