OIL pickup tube bolt retention TSB?

Hey guys, I just got a call from my dealership (that I purchased the car from) calling me to tell me of a recall about an oil pick-up tube that can come loose and starve the engine. Has anyone else heard of this yet? He said it just hit his desk this morning. I'm going to make an appointment with my local dealership to have this taken care of ASAP. If anyone has access to the TSB and want to share that would be awesome.

Just checked Chevy's website and it's program # 2030990.

Might want to check your VIN here.

Edit: Spoke with the local dealer, apparently they don't have the information they need (bulletin information) to order anything yet. I guess I'm going to have to take it easy. Little nervous to drive it now!

Here's helpful information since my thread was merged with TR6's thread. Thanks Turk.

I know there is a pretty good size thread however, I figured I'd post this here as I do have the bulletin so it doesn't get lost somewhere in the thread and for people to find it easier. GM updated their dealership network SIS (service info system) over night. I called my dealership and made an appointment for monday morning. Make sure you get this checked ASAP as IF you do have it. It is a LONG and PITA process to implement the preemptive (or simply put, fix) process. It will require them to put the entire engine on a cradle to hold it up and get to work. On average, it's a 9 hour work and not everyone can do it, a gen 6 camaro/ c7 corvette specialized tech is the only one who can. So bank on a couple days at least, IF you have it.

Here is the entire Bulletin 30990 in PDF which you can download via my dropbox OR view it via the attached bulletin as PDF here:

1. You can see the raised number from the gap behind the crossmember on the passenger side. The gap is to the right in this photo. Use a good light or camera. This requires you raise the car to get into position.
2. Another method is to slide a camera phone up into the gap behind the crossmember and take a few photos. Obviously I'm using a lift, but this can be done without ramps in the driveway with a bit of stretching. Be careful not to hit the exhaust when reaching underneath.

Prelim GM PDF here, looks simple but as turk says, getting the oil pan off is labor intensive..
Here's the PDF link in question.

Yup just checked and mine is tagged :( If they are dropping the pan then you will get a free oil change too usually.

My Vin wasn't recalled (yet). Jordans car was. I think it's the early run cars that are being recalled first, it would seem.

All the best,

For you guys that have the recall for your Camaro, please post back if your dealership orders a part or schedules you for an appointment. According to the website, if it says remedy not available, it's not available. However it says incomplete for me, which conflicts with what my local dealership is seeing in their system. Curious.

I'm guessing it is related to this...

Document ID: 4444434.pdf

My VIN is under the recall but my oil pan does not have the raised numbering called out in the bulletin.

My program status is INCOMPLETE; however my dealership has no fix information, which contradicts the website. According to the website, there should be a fix.

Got me too, I guess I'm watching the oil pressure gauge until it gets serviced
