Performance Data Recorder Not Functional
Hey frens,
Ever since I bought my used Camaro SS 1LE, the PDR never worked. I am positive I do have it (can feel the lens, have the app, seen window sticker). The issue is that whenever I click the app, nothing happens. All other apps on the infotainment have no problems. I tried putting in a new memory card – nothing. I tried putting in my friend's (who has a 1LE and uses his PDR) memory card – still won't come up. I have tried unplugging the battery for a while to reset the electronics– still nothing. Does anyone have any ideas? I have an appointment with Chevy in a few days about it, but keep in mind I have a tune. If my ECU were to be unflashed, it would throw about $1000 down the drain. Thanks in advance. |

I was going to ask you if you’re putting the memory card in the right slot (left of the steering wheel), but I assume you do since you’ve successfully used your friend car’s PDR.
Sorry I can’t think of anything else… Geoff |

Have you tried resetting the infotainment system in the menus? Otherwise I suspect a wiring issue either to the memory card reader or the camera. Odd that it doesn't say anything though...

Yeah memory card is in the right spot and that shouldn't even matter because it should open whether card is in or not. How do I reset infotainment?

Check fuse F50, and F51 in the trunk fuse box. One of those is the PDR fuse. Dont remember which one, the other is the backup camera so no big deal if you remove/replace them

Short version:
Replace PDR module, Use only Sandisk memory cards! Format to FAT32. A little late but here was my experience: My PDR died when I tried using a Samsung Extended Life memory card. I reformatted it prior to plugging it in. Once I did, the PDR died, left me with a blank screen. I took it to the dealer, and had the tech run through the modules. Tech mentioned that something tried to install onto the PDR module, which messed it up. Tech replaced the PDR module (couldn't reprogram it), then recommended that I use a plain normal Sandisk memory card, 32GB max, and format to FAT32 prior to use. I did that, worked fine. I also risked it by purchasing a 128GB normal/plain Sandisk card, reformatted it, and that has been working fine ever since.

Replaced a dead fuse that corresponded to “rear camera” and fixed the terminal that my alternator hooks up to (it was broken inside- the one coming out of the front fuse box). Thank you everyone for the replies.

What memory cards do you all recommend for the PDR? If my ZL1 ever arrives, I want to make sure I have the right memory cards. Thanks!
