Fender/Door Gap
Was detailing my car today and noticed there is a gap in between the drivers door and the front fender, almost like the front fender is flared out. Could be the door is out of alignment ? They do seem pretty heavy...

That is often caused by jacking the car in the wrong place. Look to see if there is damage to the pinch weld under the car in that area.

Don’t feel bad, my fender to door gap looks the same on the driver side, passenger side is much better? And my car has never been jacked.I guess we need to take into consideration we have a sports car that performs like it should cost $250,000 compared to everything else on the market. Oh, and for anybody, wondering why their pictures end up sideways just simply crop them top to bottom by a millimetre or two and it will post it right , also take pictures in landscape if possible.

Oh yes passenger side is much better, and thank you that is good to know next time when I post pictures. Yea your door lines look pretty similar to mine. I was thinking maybe the door could be out of adjustment, it just seems weird.

My ZL1 is the same way. Not too concerned about it though.

LOTS of them are like that. I noticed that years ago, and I'll now look for it when I see a car parked out in the wild. Some have it. Some don't, but I can tell you I've seen plenty brand new ones at the dealer like that as well. My 16 isn't "perfect" either. Is what it is I suppose.

I have not seen a single perfectly "door gapped" 6th gen Camaro since I laid eyes on the first one in 2017. Some are better and some worse, but none perfect, unfortunately it is what it is with the way the doors are installed onto the chassis.

Before reaming their ass, I pushed on the panel and got it lined up again properly. I let it slide. I've done it once in 38 years of jacking my own hotrods and sports cars. But they should know better. Why now before I take my car in I take a video on my 4k dash cam as I'm driving to the shop, with the date and time stamps attached, and then pop it off and do a full 360 on my vehicle before I take it in. Better safe than sorry. 'It was like that when it got here." Good luck with that shit on me. I'll pull out the video. Can't be too careful. A damn shame. |

Part of what you are seeing is the spot where the fender goes from a rolled edge to a flange down low. You can see it, but there isn’t much you can do about it. You can take it to the dealer and if early enough they will adjust it for you IF it is out of spec.

Just curious is this issue mainly on the 16-18s? Ive seen some of the 19+ models and I don't notice any gaps on them
