Just want to say thanks group, it's been fun while it lasted.

Well yesterday, me and my girlfriend was out for a ride and going to a parts store. Well some young guy was on his phone and doing something with his GPS. You know how this story goes. He ran a complete red light. What I mean by that is it just didn't turn red and we had the green for a bit. I was going about 45 to 50 down that road.

My girlfriend barely seen the car and started yelling. I glanced at her then looked to my left and immediately slammed on the clutch and brake but the other car was already in the intersection. I barely started turning to the right to take the bite off and hit him.

My girlfriend was in pain from her back an I was wobbling/hopping around for a good bit. But the car took care of us and did it's job. Very well made car I must say.

Thanks for being a good group and very knowledgeable. We still have her 2019 2ss so we still got a Camaro in the family.

Make sure you hire an accident attorney. Sue him so hard into the ground his next car will be financed at 30%+ interest rate.

At first I thought hm, why did he sell an almost new ZL1, opened the thread, and saw it...

**** man, I'm so sorry this happened to you, alas, it only takes a texting idiot and a few seconds. I had a close call with a brodozer yesterday myself, but got lucky as I saw what was coming.
Hope you and your girlfriend will both be fine, looks like a serious impact. The car is extremely well built indeed (unfortunately I know it from experience, too), your windshield didn't even crack, there are advantages to the fighter jet cockpit design after all, even with a sunroof.

Your title sounds fatalistic, are you not planning to replace the car? It looks totaled and not easy to get a new one these days, but you had a ZL1, brother, don't give it up so easy.

Complain all you want about the Camaro being big and heavy but when the passengers can walk away from an accident like this, It’s a testament to how well the car is designed for safety.

Hope you and your girlfriend recover quickly from the accident. Thank goodness you weren’t driving one of those Smart cars.

Sorry for your loss, that sucks. But glad you and the GF were not seriously hurt.
Do you think the insurance company will total the car?

Yeah I assume insurance will total the car and with used car values now you can get a new one?

Distracted drivers are a really serious problem with all these zombies glued to their phone (especially at night) - I see crazy stuff all the time, drive very defensive, and always wait several seconds before pulling out at a green light where I can't see very well
