How much power can you make on the stock exhaust?
Can anyone tell me how much power can you make with the LT4 before the stock exhaust restriction becomes an issue.
I love the sound of the exhaust after installing ARH long tube headers, But I also love new tires and wheels....Can someone share your experience? |

The stock exhaust is a restriction from the get-go; thus, headers are one of the top hp/mod

If this is the case, he should be good to go unless he's looking to make crazy i.e. 1000+ hp

My car is stock except for the GM Flex Fuel kit and a K&N drop in filter. I expect my car to make anywhere from 600hp - 620hp at the wheels with the tune that it's currently running. I'll be heading to the dyno when the weather gets nice.
They just passed some law in NY that you cannot run modified exhausts. You can be fined or serve up to 30 days in jail. It's nuts. I still might throw headers on tho. hahahaha |

Yes I am talking about the factory exhaust ....stock everything.
Seems the Chevy Engineers must have had a pretty good design given they can get 590 HP to the rear wheels. Generally there is room for improvement, and before I drop 2.5K on ARH headers I just wanted to know what you all have been able to do. I will move to the headers soon......but was wondering how others have done. |

That's interesting because from what I've been reading the stock exhaust is not really that restrictive as the gases can contract and expand enough through the pinched section. I will say though, it does bother my and now sure why they would engineer the setup that way.
