Funny thing is... it was black as well.

Have we? Overloaded with electronic crap, your car connects to your phone so you're accessible everywhere. Useless back seat with exception to amputees(not saying thirdgens were awesome, but could be used much more easily in a pinch). Way easier trunk(aka hatch) access for storage in the rear without contortions to put stuff in. Raw feel, piped in crap to cancel butt hurt harmonics of the NVH generation, vehicles have sould and noise cancelling isn't it..... I like my thirdgens and the people who underrate them are the ones who never had the good versions of them. Gen 6 is a badass ride, but it is short itself in many areas, the ones that matter to consumers mostly. |

Other than that, I agree 100%. Way too much BS in these cars. It's one of the main reasons I wouldn't buy a zl1. I want to drive a car, not a computerized infotainment system I want to hear/feel the car. If I didn't, I'd buy a caddy. The main reason I would buy a Camaro is the 455hp and it is a good looking car. |

they could do the same article about a 1st gen. i had a base 327 V8 and it was not fast.
cars have made huge leaps from the early 90s until now.

90's was the start of the "tech" age. Cars have made huge advancements and it started in the early 90's.....

I had a 1989 Iroc with the 230hp 5.0 TPI motor and 5 speed. It was a pretty good car for the day - wasn't all that slow and super fun to drive with the manual trans - handled very good. I ran it in SCCA FS autox for several years with Koni yellow shocks and it did quite well. Eventually I wanted more power and changed the engine, trans, rear end, suspension and etc. and ended up with a fantastic running and handling car for both street and track duty. Motor made ~400hp and 460 ft-lbs and it ran 12.8's@109 but was set up for handling and road courses. Lots of fun.
Of course that car was highly modified just to get close to the performance level that you get out of the box with a 6th gen SS and no comparison on interior quality and overall ride refinement let alone tech features. |

I bought a 1982 Z28 new that had a 305 4 speed quadrajet 4 barrel that was a real dog in its day! I drove it though and got every ounce of hp out of that 305 that could be and kept it until I bought a new 1987 IROC Z28 with a 305 TPI 5 speed that had more hp than the ‘82 Z. It was a highly optioned IROC that had T-tops that leaked the day I bought it until I got rid of it in 1998 for a Camaro SS. The 1987 build quality wasn’t good and the body flexed due to the T-tops and also mine had the paint that peeled off and was repainted but didn’t last. Also it had a bad block that cracked in the lifter valley which I did get a replacement short block under warranty. From my 3rd gen experiences I would say it was good that GM replaced them with the 4th gen for all the problems that the 3rd gens had and to me the 6th gen is a far superior Camaro to any 3rd gen hands down!
