We'll, interesting day at the dyno... brought two cars down (camaro and my cammed gto). The gto came back on a flatbed. Sounds like something let go in the bottom end on the ride down under easy cruising.

the camaro was having some issues with boost. With the controller off and running gate only 8psi)... it would ramp up to 8psi quick and then continue to creep to 15-16psi. MAF readings were all over the place (like last time when I had compromised plug wires).

peak tq was just past 8psi and peak power was at 15-16psi.

made only 818rwhp/692rwtq.

just for reference, when it held 16psi before (but with clutch slip up top) it made 817rwhp/758rwtq. The 817rwhp was at ~5600rpm last time, this time it made peak power at 6500rpm, just boost was all over the place. My boost gauge in car was jumping everywhere from 8 to 0 then to 10 then to 16.

looks like I'll have to either relocate the coils to address the plug wire issues or switch to twins down low to keep the wires alive.

Timing finished at 15 degrees... 17 degrees netted 3hp, so I put it back to 15.

i have the winter now to strategize on keeping the ignition wires alive.

What's wrong with the wires, getting burned? I wrapped my wires pretty thick with the exhaust header wrap as it was burning through the thin plug wire sleeves and it's been good ever since

Dang bro . . . I know this has not been the day you were expecting. You strike me as a guy that will stay on it until you get it figured out and corrected. Keep your chin up, seek a lot of advice, and in the end make your decision and go with it. The sun will shine tomorrow.

They have always had DEI sleeves, but just themes underwood kooks them. Not sure the wires are toast... but definitely some ignition issue going on. The boost gauge was going wacky too during the runs, jumping all over.

Thanks. Yeah, disappointed, but it stayed together. More worried about the gto now... something sounds awful from the bottom end.

I tried them, but the boot is too long and they run into the manifolds

I thought about relocating coils and making custom longer wires to keep them away from the manifolds but mine have held up so never got around to it

Relocating the coils is probably a winter project for me.

We'll, GTO has a toasted rod bearing, so I am taking the LS3 out of the camaro and putting it in the gto while it is still a good factory shortblock. The GTo ported LS6 heads will go on it and I need to spec out a 4X cam.

So... started tearing down the camaro (first time touching the car since the dyno). Upon tear down I see that I had 5 burnt plug wires out of 8! No wonder the dyno was funky! Still made s lazy 818rwhp with bad wires though! Encouraging. Probably will do a coil relocation over the winter, along with a forged shortblock. I just wanted to update this thread with my findings.

Thank to this guy, my wires are wrapped thick and have held up great as well.

I use PCM of NC wires, if you are running a Huron kit these wires fit really good for the manifold provided.

I used the same wires, the lasted ~50 miles before one cracked.

Don't know why, but it's happening. Once I get it sorted out, it will be a beast.

Pic attached, all in the same spot on the wires, these were bent up at 90 degrees. I think part of the problem is the header studs dig into the heat sleeves in the same area, may be contributing.
