performance design carbon pTR intake manifold

anyone using one of these? i had no idea they exist for gen v applications. they are shorter than a hi ram, but the long runner will still likely require an aftermarket hood. the short runner can use a shorter lid so it looked very close to fitting under a stock hood. the intake runner length options are nice and they (velocity stacks) appear to be easily changed. for sure lighter than a hi ram and much cleaner. i'm definitely going to give one a shot.

https://www.performancedesign.com/pr...age/carbon-ptr

of course i fondled the manifold and they had it sitting right next to a hi ram, but i did not take any pictures.

i believe they are $1299. i think the price is 100% reasonable for what the manifold offers.

runner length options:

6.5, 8 & 9 inches
165, 203.2, & 228.6 millimeters

comparison:

LT1 155-225 mm (unequal length)
LT2 210 mm
msd 198 mm
hi ram 165 mm

only power comparison ive read about was on a stock c8. supposably gained 25+ whp with a LT5 tb on an otherwise stock car. naturally, i'm skeptical.

I like it.

Fingers crossed it fits under the hood in one configuration

Don’t see a specific lt1 application. I know they have one for the lt2 but with almost a 90 degree throttle body snout for the c8. The c8 lt2 version is like $2000. I run the carbon lid on my hi ram and love it.

So here are the dimensions of stock, performance design and hi-ram. The pTr intake is shorter. I hope you find this fits under our hoods if you get one.

In its stock configuration the Ptr manifold will not fit with the stock hood. I contacted them several months ago asking about this and they told me no it will not fit.

Yeah the Cid looks killer but it's another one that won't fit under the stock hood. Ryan over at GPI nipped that one real quick. He said it's going to be a no holds barred type of manifold for the higher spinning motors.

I bought another hood and cut it. Can always go back.

define "higher spinning". i've seen several dynos of 225 cams spinning 7500+ with a msd.

7500 to 8k plus. It's also going to be taller than the High Ram.

I fondled it as well, I’d like to eventually test it against the hi ram I have now. The lid is an inch taller than the hi ram, and would be like having a 1” spacer with a hi ram. The CID intake an inch taller than the hi ram and the runners are half inch shorter than the hi ram. Neither of the 3 will fit under the factory hood.

you don't think the short runner with the short lid would fit? their tallest offering was still shorter than the hi ram.
