Anyone running the GPI Track Attack cam?
I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on a big cam. I want to do a max effort N/A build.
Anyone break 600 all motor? The Track Attack Cam with some ported heads looks to be the best bet. |

I’ve installed that cam, their Hi-ram cam, and LT no Flycut cam. If you’re wanting max effort, you’ll want to flycut and mill the heads down with a thinner gasket to take advantage of the setup. Definitely possible to hit that number though.

Call GPI. They will point you in the right direction. Track attack cam with supporting mods will get you in the 600 range.

I don't see a lot of guys running the fly cut cams (for good reason) which is why I want to give it a shot. Did that cam kill the drivability or was it still decent? My experience with cammed LT cams is that they have been very easy to drive but that cam is on a different level

It's too much cam for a street car. For a street/strip setup that sees minimal street use then it would be ok. Sure get on FB and you will see guys that run around on bias ply tires with no seats or exhaust claiming street car...but in the real world that isn't street.
If you want a nice NA build that doesn't deviate too far from the stock characteristics of the car, stick with GPI's SS2 or SS3 H/C package. The track attack cam will need a lot more compression because it kills dynamic. So low speed torque and driveability suffer big time unless compression is moved up to 12.5:1..also will require a loose converter(4000 stall minimum and a 5k would be better). That shit isn't any fun for a street car...especially when you need 3500rpm to accelerate like the car use to at 2k rpm.

Well my car is an M6 with a 3.91 in the back. I was planning on adding compression as well. I'll have the heads decked and ported. Cars my daily for the moment but I'm picking up a new truck soon. Their stage 2 and 3 cams are way to small on the intake side. Great for centrifugal blower cars sure but not an N/A car. I'd rather go with a TSP stage 3 or maybe the GPI NFC cam if anything.
Maybe I'll run the big boy for a little bit and if I don't like it I'll swap it out later. |

Honestly all of them drive great and a couple of the owners were skeptical at first when I mentioned the setups. They love it now and thank me almost everytime it gets brought up in a conversation. A lot of it will be in the tuning. As far as adding some compression to the mix, you’ll most likely have to flycut with that camshaft. Flycutting isn’t a bad thing or anything and it’s pretty easy to do with the tool that they sell. Ryan also has a video for guys that have never done it. I flycut my pistons .180 for my camshaft that’s similar to the Hi-Ram cam from GPI and it’ll be driven on the street quite a bit with a 6fpx converter and dumped x-pipe at the rearend. Honestly I think if it’s got mufflers it can be considered a streetcar. Bigger converters really aren’t as bad as people make them out to be, they drive just fine on the street. Only other piece of advice I can give is to just listen to guys with personal experiences with these setups or setups that are similar.

do you have a graph from the nfc cam? curious how much tq it loses and what the power curve looks like above 5k.

I just did a build similar to what you are thinking. I called GPI and we discussed what I wanted to too with the car. They are really helpful and will point you in the right direction. I ended up porting my MSD through them, new ported and milled heads, SS4 cam, LT4 injectors, and I ended up adding the forged pistons and rods. My car is a 2017 Camaro ss convertible that I drive on weekends, and to the drag strip. However I really don't have any issues with the drivability of the car. I am extremely happy with the car. I will try to find the numbers but it was close to the 600hp and close to 700hp with the 100 shot of nitrous. From what I know (which isn't much) but dyno numbers can all over the place and I really didn't care what the numbers on the dyno said but was more into the numbers at the track. I would give them a call and talk to them directly. I know they were really straight forward with me on what could and could not be done.
