No issues at all with my ZL1 from a stop, or on a hill. I don't drive it in the rain, but I don't think that would be a problem either. And it has a little more than a Hellcat. It drives just like stock, till I get on it, then its hold on...

Thats good to know. If I get a zl1 it'll be the most horsepower manual car I've ever bought. Curious too how bad it is in rain and just shitty weather, as it will be a daily for me. Good to know you haven't had any problems out of yours with it being streetable.

I've had bad experiences with previous GM auto's, including the 5th gen SS. They're not responsive, never in the right gear, I don't like them. For any future sports car, I'm going to force myself to learn how to drive stick. Wish I had done that already...prefer the gear ratios/gearing on the manuals too.

The 6 speed auto in my Silverado is a crap shoot when trying to catch a lower gear when I pass. I think it's literally criminal how unresponsive it is when trying to pass someone. You check you mirror to pass, you mash the pedal and then.... wtf is this thing waiting for. There is a very dangerous lag time on the downshift. I can't imagine how this could be legal and it's a good case for manual throttle linkage.

For me:

Tracking the car constantly : Auto

Every day use and I live in a city where i'm not in constant jams : Manual

Only reason I despise manual is when I drive in Miami or 95 when it is jammed, because then you are there for a long, long time....

If I'm going to be tracking it often, rather have the car focus on the shift's while I worry about driving it...

I hope everyone is happy with whatever decision they make, and make sure to share plenty of pictures.

I'm ordering the 10 speed for sure I love the 8 speed auto in my Hellcat and will probably sell my GT350 because of the M6. Had knee surgery a few years ago and my left knee does not like a clutch anymore

In the off chance I bypass a regular SS Camaro and save up more for a ZL1, I'll probably have to do 6spd. Unless the performance numbers are drastically different, rowing your own gears in a car like this just feels right.

A few things about this thread make me chuckle. People talking about a gas guzzler tax and which transmission is gonna be cheaper.. OK if u can afford to buy a '17 ZL1 which starts at 60k then why worry?!! And some folks say they want the auto cause it's gonna be a daily driver. Why on earth would u make a 640HP car a DD??!!

I think most people here that want to buy a ZL1 won't care if it does have the GG tax and the cost of it. They just want to know. And you ask why would someone have a daily driver with 640hp? Why not?

Why make a 450hp car a DD? Why even 300?

Well for me it's not practical. That's a car u floss around on your off time...That's putting a lot of unnecessary miles on an exotic car just for work! Maybe it's just me but I would appreciate the car more if I didn't drive it 365 days a year it would be more special! The ZL1 is a supercar.
