LT1 Velossa Tech Scoop
The Velossa Tech Scoop can help your IATs. At least a little. We used to call this RAM AIR. LOL Now I know the only ram air is made by turbos and superchargers. But still it is a fun no warranty problem add on. I have forced an SS version on my LT1. I think I could fix it by modding it. But to do that right I would have to remove the bumper cover. Wat a PIA. But I don't mind the from the top alternative as much, but it is a PIA also.
Some time ago the owner of VT offered us a free VT scoop made for the LT1 if someone who has one visits the shop near Tampa FL stops in for a fitment. VT now has a ZL1 version, but still no LT1. The LT1 is the most likely home for this mod being the fastest V8 Camaro and most likely 1/4 mile tracker. Does anyone with an LT1 live near Tampa? Maybe once they have your bumper off they could figure out how to add a front tow hook. I have 2 factory ones.

I thought this one was already developed for the Lt1. Didn't Pray help on this kit? Already thought he was selling them.

I bought one thinking it was the same as an SS for my LT1 and it didnt fit right but I stuffed it I there anyway. The front lights on the LT1 are different then on the SS so the scoop doesn’t set right . I looked through my rotofab box and half the scoop was against the bottom and not seated into the air box . I guess I’m getting only half of the what it’s supposed to do. Also I saw no gain at the track .

Sounds like a good idea. The Lt1 is becoming pretty popular so maybe they can make a new version for this model.

Too difficult to install these for the return in performance. Would have been nice if chevy made a clearer path for direct airflow. Probably could be good for another 10hp if straight with no sharp bends going into the airbox.

Are we? Geez...! I guess I should get a life but I'm drawn to these cars!
I remember when I was a kid and I saw '69 Z-28's and Challengers and Plymouth Superbirds! I thought "Wow, what's gonna be available when I'm big enuff to buy the modern version of those cars"?! Then I grew up and we had the EPA and the oil embargo and cars were too slow to get out of their own way! 0-60 in an afternoon and even then they wouldn't run right! Finally computers and science caught up with people's NEED- yes, I don't just want to be quick, I NEED to! I feel the need for... you know how it goes, get outta my way (the folks in my area still tolerate me, some maybe even like me, and they usually get out of the way). I have been very lucky with any interactions I've had with the fine staff of our local PD. Most just really like the car! "If I were driving that I'd probably get frustrated too." God love'em and protect them. Also I'm retired now (trying very hard to avoid the Chevy dealer), and trying very hard not to spend my children's inheritance. But I'm thinkin' this golden age of internal combustion ain't gonna be here much longer and maybe I should get that ZL1 1LE as an investment for my children's future!!! Opinions appreciated and I'll see y'all "all week" |
