A8 How to change fluid?

Where is the drain hole and the fill hole located? What transmission fluid do you guys recommend and how many quarts does it require? I'm having that infamous shudder when it switches to V4 or going up hill in 8th gear.

thanks!

It doesn't necessarily mean the TC needs replace. Mine started at about 11,000 miles. Dealer flushed the trans 3 times and it's been fine since.

How many miles on car? I would let the dealer cover under warranty.

Just got mine back from being flushed, guess we will see if this fixes the issue or will it be back in shop for a new torque converter.

how many hours are charged for the torque converter replacement? I may have to end up paying out of pocket for this so want to know the potential hit for labor. Thanks

Answered my own question by talking to a service guy. They charge 12 hours typically for a torque converter replacement. So, you're looking at about $1500 for labor.

Can anymore detail be explained on this? Ive never heard of this issue. When in V4 I have always felt my car slightly putter but didn't think anything of it because..its only using 4 cylinders...

It's more like going over rumble strips in the road for me. Had the flush done last week and we are good for now!

The shudder is very noticeable. Mine had the shudder show up at 2000 miles. Dealer did a triple flush and TCM reset. My service adviser told me that the issue was actually the fluid that came from the factory being defective/contaminated or incorrect. This caused the shudder over time and if corrected quickly enough it would not damage the Torque Converter. Hence triple flush to make sure none of the old fluid survives. However, if the shudder is not addressed within a reasonable amount of time, he has had to replace the Torque Converters as well. I caught mine and had it into the dealer within 500 miles, they performed the TSB triple flush and i've since added 6000 miles and the issue has not returned.

Hoping the same for me - I've driven 1000 miles since the triple flush and so far, so good!
