Used 2016 2SS Magnuson Supercharged

Good Afternoon,

Do any of you have any knowledge of this car?

If not, what is your opinion of the price ($31k with 30k miles) vs the risk of buying it supercharged without any knowledge of its history?

I'm looking for a used 6th gen manual as a 2nd car for the occasional commute and weekend cruising.

If you think it might be worth the risk, what are some things that I could inspect or test (if any) should I go test drive it?

thanks for any help or insight you can provide.

The build looks legit as far as I can tell from that one engine bay photo. The price looks quite okay to me, he's asking nothing for the upgrades, but then there is an accident on the carfax report.

Apart from checking the service history and that damage report from Jan 2019, I'd pull the tune and send it to a reputable tuner with codes (if any) as well as a data log from the test drive for review. Assuming the selling dealer allows such frivolities, of course, but then you are taking a substantial risk with a custom build.

Thank you for the reply.

I'm new to this stuff. How do I pull the tune and see the data log?

One of the best choices for 6th gen V8 Camaros is the MPVI2 OBD2 dongle and associated softwere from HP Tuners, this is also what I use. It costs $300 and allows you to read everything from the car; if you want to write new or modified tunes later, you will have to buy some "credits" for your vehicle, but for now the base package would be enough. You will also need a Windows or Apple notebook or laptop, but I assume that isn't a problem.

I worked with Jannetty Racing in CT on my (very similar) build and can heartily recommend them, they are absolute pros with lots of flawless builds under their belt and are very helpful; there are also several other reputable tuners who post to this forum, give one of them a call and tell them you need some help in checking a tune.

IMO a couple hundred bucks is more than worth your peace of mind when buying a $31K car (heck, you may be able to haggle with the dealer anyway), and since it's an aftermarket build, you may want to add new components that require new tunes in the future.

If you decide to go with this and then need help in running the software, either I or I'm sure many others here will happily help guide you through the process if needed.
