Q4 sales - not good
https://gmauthority.com/blog/2021/01...tates-q4-2020/
Down 34% with a annualized volume just a tic over 30,000 units. Let’s hope the rumors of the extension are true.

Most of the dealers around me just got re supplied with them. There were not many around until close to thanks giving. I don’t think Gm built many 2020s because of COVID. Most are 2021 on the lots.

As to 1le’s in kali, when I got mine on December 30th, only nine manual cars in the state, less automatics. My dealer had six of them. Four sold in days. Employee discount sure worked! But inventory here has been low like that all year

They would be better off killing it now. Why destroy what's left of the brand if they don't want to invest in it?

It's a great car today and, even without significant future improvements, it will be a great car in 2026(?). I'm not convinced that GM's unwillingness to further invest in this generation amounts to "destroy[ing]" the nameplate.

I think its one of those cars that is a great performance buy, but no one knows about them. Plus there is zero advertisements on them.

there's almost no inventory around here. either they aren't ordering them or they can't get them.

I had to get a car shipped from ND to CA in the configuration I wanted. They don’t have many SS 1LE manuals. I’m surprised the C8 saw such an increase with most dealers marking them up.

I just want them to be motivated to wheel and deal or great incentives when I start my ZL1 search in ~30-60 days.

Agree x10. I knew little about the Camaro (and I'm a big car guy) before I looked into purchasing one. They almost seem to be a rare find on the lots as well.

Low inventory is why they haven't been discounting them very much. Employee pricing is not a deal to me. That's less than 10% off MSRP. I picked up my 2016 for 20% off sticker at the end of the 2016 MY.
OTOH, this is also driving up used car prices on the other end - so if you have a trade, it might work out well. I recently picked up a Mazda3 for my wife to replace the one she had which was 6 years old w/ 45K miles. New one was about $5K off sticker, so it was about a $15K swap all said and done - this is on a $30K sticker vehicle for reference. $3K off on a $45K sticker is no great deal. I am thinking at some point 2021 inventory will start flowing in more regular fashion - maybe this quarter, maybe not until the summer - and we will start seeing $5K and more off. Seems plenty of 2021 inventory from the Japan mfgs and they are giving typical slow winter month discounts - in the range of 15% for the car we bought. GM is offering maybe half that on the Camaro. There is no shock they aren't selling them. But if they don't have very many to sell, it's probably the right discount strategy - just enough to move what then need. |
