Seems like a good deal on a very nice car.
Sorry you have to sell to take care of the wedding.... That is father daughter love - big sacrifice.

Thanks for your kind words, Niemienator. On the plus side, my future son-in-law is going to be a doctor, so that might come in handy in my old age!

And you will also have that Viper to keep you company.

My daughter is celebrating her 1 year anniversary with her boyfriend today. This guy looks like a potential winner. My daughter graduated from University of Wisconsin, Madison in 2011 and loved every minute of it.

If I wasn't that far away from you, I would take a serious look.

Thanks,
Ken

NYstockboy- Buy the car, and I will pay for your plane ticket out.

My son graduated from UW-Madison in 2015 and my daughter from Carroll University in 2011. I am very proud of both!

I did tell my daughter I would never sell the viper for her wedding- she would have to elope!

It's not the travel that is the problem, it is the fact that I live in Manhattan and selling my Corvette privately would be a royal pain. I live in a high rise building and park my car at an indoor gagage 49 blocks away because I am able to put my car on a lift at that garage, eliminating all scratches and dings normally associated with parking indoors in the City. I would really need to do both sides of the transaction through a dealership, where I would purchase your car from the dealership and trade my car in. That would also allow me to significantly reduce the taxes on the deal.

Thanks,
Ken

Wow, 49 blocks to get to your car, that is crazy! As a car nut, I don't think I could handle having my babies that far from me! I guess that is the sacrifice you make to make the big bucks in the big city!

Good luck with your hunt- hopefully you will find something closer to you at a dealer where you can trade in your Corvette. It is worth it, the ZL1 is probably the best all around performance car I have owned, and at 57 years old, I have owned quite a few.

Yes, and two other dealerships also gave me the same number that CarMax did- $41,000. Apparently that is the number on this car at this time. They all seem to think that it is too late in the year already for them too buy this type of car- they are afraid of not selling it before winter comes.

Too nice a car to give away- maybe I will just get an home equity loan and keep the car.

Hey, Ken from NYC here. So, what is your plan at this point regarding the ZL1?

Hi Ken from NYC. At this point, I actually have somebody from Rochester, NY who seems very interested in the car. We have agreed on the price and amount of deposit. I have sent him over 30 pictures and the vin # and have assured him that the car will exceed his expectations. He seems very knowledgeable and cautious, which I can respect, as he is planning on having the car shipped to him sight unseen (other than all the pictures and my assurances that the car is perfect). Apparently the last hurdle is the bank he is getting a loan from wants to look up the value tomorrow morning. I have a sneaky suspicion that the value the bank comes back with will be $1000 less than our agreed price, and I will have wasted two days of backing the car out of the garage, taking pictures, texting pictures, talking on the phone, answering text messages, backing the car out again, putting the cover on, taking more pictures, emailing pictures, etc, etc, etc.

Now I know why I hate selling cars privately! I have decided that I will not accept a nickel less than $42K for the car. If I can"t get that price, I will come up with another way of securing some capital. Even at 57, I still think of myself as a handsome man!
