How to look up Dealer ZL1 inventory?

I may very well be ready to buy a ZL1 in the next two months and if I can find a great deal on a 2018 leftover I may choose to do that over ordering and waiting for a 2019. But why is it when you use the Chevrolet website to search dealer inventory for a camaro with specific options they do not have a ZL1 option in the "Trim" pull down. Even if you just search for camaros and select a particular dealer they won't even show they have a ZL1 in stock when I know that they do because I checked their individual website.

How are you supposed to see what dealers have ZL1 inventory across the US? Are they forcing me to work with a dealer just to locate a specific car? I know I can use cars.com. cargurus, etc. but that doesn't mean every dealer is going to use those sites. Am I missing something here?

On the Chevy website under shopping tools and search inventory there is a option to "chat" with an inventory specialist online. I did this a couple of years ago. You tell them EXACTLY what you're looking for and they'll find if it's in stock anywhere in the US and Canada.

Many dealers want to sell a ZL1 to their own customers at exorbitant additional dealer markup. So therefore they Kink the system and it doesn't show on the locator. It's easy to do with a few inventory categories from GM that keeps it out of the locator. Frankly, they don't want the calls…

Website is horrible it only gives you the three closest Chevy dealership and even if you chat with an inventory specialist it's hard to get them to give you anything any further than 500 miles out
