Headers or no?

I recently threw on LT2 intake manifold, LT5 throttle body and flex fuel kit. I would like to go with some headers but I don't want to make the car super loud.

Are headers with high flow cats and factory x pipe connection worth it or should I stay with stock?

I plan on getting headers. Big fan of headers.

I don't think its too loud. Once they are broken in it does quiet down a little until you put foot in it. That's when they really come alive.

I have Kooks headers on my car. It’s made it quite a bit louder than stock, especially on cold starts. When I’m at club events and start my car, the straight pipe guys go “aw, that’s adorable” and then they crank up their beasts and make me sound like a Prius.

I have 2” headers into high flow cats and stock NPP. Love it. Valves closed its quiet almost stock quiet and open screams pretty good. I’ve heard it doesn’t sound good though if you delete cats.

I may upgrade to Corsa NPP for more volume open next year and still stays somewhat tame with the valves closed…

I was looking into getting stainless power. They seem pretty good for the price, anyone have any experience with them?

The cold start is the loud part, and it can be pretty damn loud, after that it's absolutely great though.

There is a thread on here won Stainless Power that isn't too old.

I regret installing headers. The 2” hit steering column during hard cornering on track and was too loud for for my tastes. I added a magnaflow to make it tolerable for my tastes and keep below track sound limits. Also was crazy expensive. I wouldn’t do them again if I had to do it over. But that is just my view. Fwiw, good luck on choice! :-)

lol. I may have liked that in my 20s. 41 now and stupid loud is just annoying to me.

Get the 1 7/8, no need for 2" at your power level as they'll reduce torque which an NA car needs to get it rolling. I made 870 rwhp on my old 16 Camaro with 2650 and 1 7/8 Speed Engineering long tubes. They won't cause an issue with the steering either.

I second these, garage cold starts are brutal, but after that idle and low throttle is just a little louder than stock, while WOT with the valves open is absolute thunder. Also, I did keep the (green) cats that Kooks sells for these headers—even though there is no inspection here, I want to keep things the right way, so I will not be that guy.

I turned off exhaust rumble (open valves at startup) in touring mode. Makes a huge difference when I don’t want to piss the neighbors off early in the morning. lol

I did the same thing and in tour a cold start is rather quiet.

OP, Headers, cats, 3” x-pipe into stock NPP isn’t too loud at all.
