these laws have been on the books for years. it is scary. we're totally ****ed when all of the states start forcing inspections, that is what will push people to electric cars.

Our modding days are coming to a end as well as gas. Maybe we can mod the new gulf cart motors one day.

Well I'm not surprised that heightened EPA enforcement of existing statutes has come with a change in executive branch administration.

I can't help but think the diesel modders get a lot of the blame for more emissions equipment enforcement. The coal-rollers are a very in your face a-hole move that very few like.
Like most things with the government this is full of unintended consequences and tends to punish those that are not the worst offenders. |

It doesn't take a lot of modding to roll coal and it can be done with a catalytic converter in place, albeit more difficult. I don't find them as aggravating or dangerous as a Prius pulling into the left lane to slow traffic down.
If people didn't get triggered so easily, those guys would go away, but for some reason people slow down to get away from the smoke like it's going to melt their car.

Even as a car guy and engineer who has modded and build several vehicles from the ground-up... GOOD!
The coal-rollers and bro-dozers are to blame and I can't fault anyone who hates them. My neighbor has a ridiculous bro-dozer and it annoys everyone around him, you can hear the high-pitched whistle from literally blocks away. What an asshole. It's so much worse than any loud car exhaust I've ever heard, and on the road the smell and smoke is simply not acceptable. Also, if you think it's ok to drive around without cats, it's also your fault. This is not as bad as diesels but it's pretty bad and totally unacceptable as well.

When I go headers I’ll have high flow CATs for the shear purpose I don’t want the smell. I did that with my 4th Gen LS1. LT/bullets dumped. The car and everything around it absorbed the raw fuel smell... that gets old.

Not to derail the thread, but I'm pretty sure we are already there, for those considering escaping Covid tyranny by coming to Florida, and many are coming, remember there are lots of guys like me and we don't live in the ghetto. Make sure you get a house in a gated community because they won't allow us to park our trucks outside and our trucks don't fit in the garages. You will see "bro-dozers" flying Trump flags as well as "Old Glory, and lots of them have train horns." You can go further south where there is a lot less of it, but then you run into all the street racing children of the well to do. Hell, in Orlando they had a group of quad riders taking over I-4, so you never know what might happen. We have bugs too, big ones. God Bless.
