V6 Camaro With Minor Mods- Love it
I wanted to know if anyone else has a V6 Camaro and loves as much as I love mine.
I have had so many performance cars- from Camaro SS, Mustang GT's, Subaru WRX's, Civic SI's, WRX's, Mazdaspeed 3, and Miata's, including a Miata ND. This V6 Camaro is in my top 3- along side the Miata ND and Mazdaspeed 3. I think it's the combination of being light, agile and very fun to drive and it gets economy car gas mileage. But only with the mods I added. When I bought the car a little over a year ago, it was bone stock- white with the 18" silver stock wheels, 6 speed manual and factory LSD- and it had only 6K miles- practically brand new. It drove good but I saw the potential. I added custom axle back exhaust- dual Flow Masters and 20 X 10 Stance forged wheels wrapped in Toyo 27535R20 tires. The tires and wheels alone really transformed the car- from good handling to razor sharp. Now the car is so fun to drive- the sound of the flowmasters revving it to 7K and the looks and handling, grip with the black Stance wheels against the white car. (I also added Black Bow Ties for a full Tuxedo look). I love the C7 Corvettes and the Gen 6 SS Camaros and could upgrade but I love my 2016 Camaro so much I won't part with it. So, any others with V6 Camaros feel the same?

You and I have talked a little bit, so you know that I definitely enjoy this V6. For what it is I think it's a great car. Now with the Flomasters I feel it's more complete and rounded out if that makes sense

Yes, loving my 2LT 1LE. I specifically wanted the V6 as the right balance of power to help me develop as a driver. Best car I have owned, coming from Mazdaspeed3, Solstice GXP, and Miata. I went with the 1LE package which includes some of the benefits of the mods you did (wheels/tires and exhaust) so I can definitely empathize with you enjoying your setup.

I love my LS 1LE. It's a base V6 with the performance package. The NPP exhaust sounds great, the car is well-balanced, and isn't bad on the consumables (tires, brakes, gas). My previous car was a modified 1st gen Miata, with the same color pattern, so I call my Camaro the Fat Miata. It's exactly what I wanted, more power and safety, very fun to drive fast, and affordable. Oh, and it looks great, too.
My V6 with 1LE came with what is basically the standard SS wheel and tire package, staggered 20's with run-flat summer tires. I got two sets of square 18's, one set of narrower wheels & tires for the street, and one set of 18x10s with summer tires for track and autocross. The elimination of run flat tires, huge reduction in wheel weight, and taller sidewalls really helped the car's ride. I thought the OEM ride was poor, because of the wheels and tires it came with. |

Two friends of mine with BMWs on 20's who simply ditched the run-flats reported a big improvement in ride. So dropping to 18's isn't necessary to get a big improvement. I wanted a bigger improvement, with less unsprung weight and cheaper tires. My 275/40/18 Nexen track tires have been only $170 each.

I thought long and hard between the V6 and SS when making my purchase. I am glad I went with the V6. No second set of tires, regular gas, 5 quart oil change. Cost of ownership is better and it's a blast to drive.

Exactly. Which is why I mentioned that I couldn't be the first one to ask this question lol. I'm curious what the actual reason is here, because that's one hell of a jump backwards

Out of curiosity; What makes you all that can afford the newer (2016+) V8 choose the V6 instead?
I am certainly not hating on the 6 at all, I dig the V6. I had to drive one while my car was getting some work done and it's way more fun than the V6 Mustang I had back in 2004. I'm just legitimately curious. I personally love the power of the 8, but anything can be made fast. Aside from power though, even if they had the same amount of TQ/HP, I just love the mean sound of my V8 too much. Nothing like it, and I wouldn't want to part with that rumble.
