Get 2016 & Mod or 2019 1LE?
I am debating on whether to get a 2016 1LT, V6 manual with 6K miles that a local dealer has for 20K or buy a brand new 2019 V6 1LE for 29.5K. If I got the 2016 I would have to immediately invest in 20" wheels and tires and a Magnaflow axle back exhaust so that is going to set be back another 2-3K so will end up paying 23K versus 29.5K. I also may do the suspension down the road too. I also will have no warranty. I have decided I want the V6 with M/T, not an SS. I had the V6 in my 2017 RS and loved the car except for the horrible shuddering A8 tranny. I recently had a 2018 Mustang GT that was horrible with ticking, knocking, rattling and pinging in the engine. I'm going back to a Camaro, I like the Camaro way better. I should be safe with the M/T.
Which should I go for?

Go for the new one, especially since it's a 1LE. By the time you're done upgrading the 2016 to a similar level, you'll be close in spending and still have a 3-year old car with no warranty.

if you're looking to mod regardless of the year and you're getting a V6, you're barking up the wrong tree.

Go with the used. Based on your car usage, I doubt you will stay with the car for more than a few years, go with the 16 that already has depreciated. It's a v6, short of a supercharger, your modding options are extremely limited, I'd go the used route then look for used exhaust and wheels (if you want OEM wheels) you could get those modes used around 1500 total, which is still well below the new vehicle.

I know there are several factors other than straight up cost, but for 29.5 you could get a 16 SS and would be beyond the V6 1LE in performance.

For $29,500 I'd buy a used SS.

Well I already decided no SS. The biggest problem down here and why I like the V6 is it runs on regular gas. 93 octane is very expensive, sometimes more than $1.00 a gallon and hard to get. And difficult or none available before or after a hurricane. I am not power crazy and don't need that much performance and a V8. I find the V6 more than satisfying for my driving style. I also like the sound with the performance exhaust. I just want a nice handling car with manual transmission.
My daily driver is a 2018 VW GTI and it's an automatic- hence the need for M/T. I got it pretty much at an auction price. And I sold my 66 Bronco and Fiesta so I need a new weekend fun car. The 2019 has the Recaro seats. Does anyone have them- are they comfortable, not too restricting? I am lean and in shape so they should fit me fine, but wanted to know.

The v6 is great and has plenty of power. Just that if you're after mods you wont find any.
At least no performance mods. Most external mods are pretty universal. and you might still have some play in that price for the 2016. Definitely if you plan on switching cars before running it into the ground, you'll get the most cost-effective purchase out of the used car. You wont appreciate the 1LE unless you track the car and it may be more annoying than not if the roads aren't great where you live. People have complained about ride quality of less than ideal roads. |

The only main mods to the 2016 will be sound and tires/wheels. I might get Bilstein struts if they make them for the car, that would be it. Color is also important I want white due to the blistering sun down here.
If I got the 1LE I would go to the track and it would be cool just to drive around at 90-100 MPH. Not into drag racing at all.

Given your two choices I'd get the new 1LE, especially since you live in FL and can deal with summer performance tires all-year. 1LE comes with NPP too. I like the look and 1LE package on the V6 would make a fun car.
As a V6 manual owner I can say it's a great, fun car. Likes to rev and makes plenty of power up top. I like it better than my previous FiST although it doesn't have the low end turbo torque feel. Have to rev it a bit, but that makes it fun too. |

Definitely get the 2019 1LE instead of the 2016! You will be way ahead of the game since it’s only about 9 grand more and a new car too! You won’t need to do any mods to the 2019 because it has the goods parts to start with and the wheels look good too. You could buy an air induction kit for it but that’s all it would need. Buy new if you can and food for thought is that the 2016 will be 4 years old when the 2020s come out in a month or so.
