Leftover Camaro 2018 V6 M/T Safe to Buy?
I am at a cross roads and considering another Camaro. I had so many issues with the shuddering transmission in my 2017 I traded it in- for another problem car- a Mustang GT with engine rattling, piston slap and pinging. Dealer is not doing anything about it so it may become someone else's problem. I loved my 2017 Camaro except for the transmission. I generally do not like automatics and sprang for the 2017 anyway figuring what could go wrong.
Is the V6, M/T safe to buy, no bugs to look out for? I am looking at a one with the track package- flat black hood, differential and extra engine coolers, Brembo brakes, etc. It will be my daily driver. I was pleased with my other V6- the engine was great and it yielded me around 30 MPG on regular fuel.

So, you are looking for a 2LT 1LE...
Have not heard of any real issues with them...

No real issues with the V6 MT. The V6 MT trans a different Tremec unit than the SS (6060), and I think shifts a little worse than the 6060, but not bad overall. There is, sometimes, a weird throttle lag right off idle, that I've seen maybe 6 times. I think it is a software thing with throttle mapping that shows up in weird scenarios. Nothing to be worried about though.
I think a V6 1LE is a very interesting, and unusual car. A lot of bang for the buck really. You get the great chassis plus SS suspension, manual trans, and enough power to be fun on the street and useful on the track. Like your FiST (I had one of those too), the NA V6 is fun on the street and requires the driver to really engage to make it dance. It will dance well if you keep it in the power band. If you have a deal on a leftover 18 V6 1LE that could be a great option. What color? |

The 1LE comes with the SS summer tires standard, whereas the non-1LE V6 comes with standard all-seasons. Since you are in FL the summer tires are not an issue. That makes the 1LE an even better option.

I think it's a 1LE, which really peaks my interest even more. It's labeled as a 2LT but lists all of the coolers and Brembo Brakes and has the flat black hood. Does this make it a 1LE? It also has the dual mode exhaust, 20" wheels and summer tires. It's red with black wheels (red not my first choice in sunny hot FL but like the black wheels) and it's local and immediately available. I agree it would be really fun to drive for my commute and get fairly decent gas mileage in 6th gear most of the way going 55. I assume I could get a really good deal, regardless. M/T's are hard to sell down here.

I have a 2018 1LS with the V6 1LE package. It's my daily driver and 'weekend warrior'. Love it so far.
Issues so far: Rear diff groan when cold. Occasional weird throttle response. Kinda what 6sigma mentioned. Airbag Service Light and chime. This is a strange one; the service airbag light comes on when the accelerometer reaches 1 lateral G. (Think going fast around clover leaf on-ramps, long fast sweepers, etc.) Like clockwork. The light goes off once I straighten out or reduce Gs. Haven't gotten to the bottom of this one yet; still working with the dealer on it. Even with these issues, I still love it.

I'd definitely go for it in your position. Same powertrain, SS components, additional coolers, potentially smoking hot deal since this is a leftover, no risk with the trans, PTM modes etc., a no brainer if everything checks out during inspection and your test drive. The matte black hood is just a wrap that you can remove if you want, the hood is properly painted underneath. Good luck

I think the new 3.6's fixed the few issues the old one had, and manuals are just simpler. I found a crazy deal on a 2018 LS I was thinking about getting for a daily(30% off!). But I already have 3 cars, and the discount looks like a bait and switch(ones of those where the include discounts that don't stack but make it looks like they do) so kinda stupid for me.

JT58, if you are talking about the one at Victory Layne, it is definately a 1LE.
The funny thing is, the same dealer has a 2018 1SS 1LE with 4000 miles on it for $2k more than that brand new 2LT 1LE... Just sayin...

What would be the real world sale price of the V6 1LE? I bet close to $30k, maybe even less.
