Octane

I'm sure this has been addressed but I'm new here. Does anyone other than me run only 93 octane? How does the 'mid grade' of 89 octane run in a 6.2L?

I run premium only if it's available I get 93 but if I can't I put 91 in since its still premium. As for running 89 (Midgrade) it is something I do not want to experiment with in my own car.

If you can get 93 use it. I use 93 in my v6. If you want to save money use 5w-30 synthetic motor oil.

Use 93 Octane if it’s available in your area or 92. I tried 89 octane in my ZL1 and was glad when it ran low so I could put 93 in it.

There are no stations in North Dakota that sell 93, so 91 is the best I can get. I’m going to buy 55 gallon drums of unleaded 100+ octane and mix it.

I use 91 in my V6 as well since it's the highest locally for me, or 93 when I find it. Never have put regular in it, either.

If the car is stock, you can pump lower than 93, but it will make the car run worse. Put proper gas in it (even 93 is on the verge, barely enough for full power, although maybe not so much on a stock SS).

This is why I wish there were stations with 93 near me. I am in Connecticut until August and for premium out here it's 93 and back home all I can find is 91. I haven't notice a difference in power but I just wish 93 was available where I live like they have in CT.

The owners manual says less than 93 is ok to run, but less performance and fuel economy. I run all grades. IN my opinion, lower grades are ok if you are not pushing for performance- I.e. drive easy any grade is fine; push the throttle 93 is best

I've always ran 93. Can't even remember the last time I saw a 91 pump but then again I really don't go looking.

Pulls a lot of timing out of it due to the knock, loss of power. Even 93 in these engines can be a little weak. I know for a fact it'll run just fine on 87 though. Much less than ideal and not what should be done.
I've only got two options for 93 in my direct area. Lot's of 91 though and I won't run that any more, either.

If I had to run regular grade, I would get some octane booster to put in with it.
Here in Florida we run out of gas sometimes when a hurricane is coming, so I always keep a few bottles of octane boost on hand just in case there is no Premium available.

Been 8 yrs since I moved to Canada from the US and the gas ratings up here are different than down south:
87 - Regular
89 - Mid Grade
91 - Premium
94 - Super Premium (only avail at Chevron)
