Yes i know there is a chance to not get a new camaro the longer you wait but GM will start to make the 2023 model year and since the camaro has not changed much they can use parts they have on hand to continue to build them. Now with the Z06 coming out or waiting to come out they will still need to have a performance car in there line up and the Camaro is that car,The dealers keep calling and calling to sell me a Camaro and it was 6 months ago and they would not answer the phone nor call me back.

What does the Camaro inventory look like at your local dealers? In my area the only way to get a desirable Camaro is to order one and it can take 6-12 months just for an allocation. Now if you want a 1LS or maybe an LT1 in automatic you may find one on a lot if you are not picky about color.

Personally, I don’t think GM cares as much about the Camaro as you think. The only reason it is still alive is because they still make the Cadillac. The only thing the Z06 will do is create more used C8 Stingrays as owners trade them for the Z06. Keep in mind the Z06 has 2-3 year waitlist. You won’t see them available on a lot at MSRP probably ever.

What trim level are you waiting for?

This is interesting

I would expect to see used values decline first since they are way out of whack. Often time costing more than new for 2-3 year old vehicles.

This is actually completely normal. The database stores your first result, its always higher the second one drops. Typical to encourage you to sell NOW as providing the illusion your losing that much money when you plan to sell.
Also KBB instant offer is just a few guys sitting around giving the lowest ball number they can had a car for. The process of seeing a higher number first then lower as you try again is a sales tactic.

As for waiting for a better deal. Maybe... Inventory is incredibly low on new cars especially performance cars. Dont think because the honda civic is droping 2k means the camaro will. There is still a lot of demand and not near enough camaros. Dealers still asking for 10k markups etc.

A huge portion of the 2023s that will be built are going to be 22 orders that were never fulfilled.

California might also get a higher allocation that other states since they are selling like hot cakes out here since Camaro's were banned in 2021 for the copper brakes. I can't find a SINGLE Camaro on a lot near me of any trim/engine combination. I wanted to test drive a ZL1 before ordering but all of them are sold before they arrive on the lot.

Patience is a virtue and the deals will come.
I'm trying to get an allocation for a 2023 ZL1 1LE but with this new even crazier inflation news and a recession almost certain, if it's the best idea to be buying a $80K weekend toy as a second car. Add on top $4K in taxes and $5K for basically mandatory PPF/Ceramic.

Future uncertainty with numerous indicators not looking positive is why I went with the LT1 over the ZL1. $40K doesn't put near the impact on my disposable folding money. Lower payment that my side hustle can cover for the most part.

Saw various articles recently that stated more than 12% of new car payments top $1000...if you're going to make payments and are comfortable with that by all means go for it.

Only if you can afford it and it will put a smile on your face. Another option is to save 20-30k and get an SS 1LE.

I expect to see the dealer markup drop off as supply chain issues get resolved (whenever that is). I expect there will be a bubble burst when the chip shortage is resolved and suddenly there are tens of thousands of vehicles suddenly on the market for purchase. I think a lot of money will be lost when that happens since those vehicles will likely be below MSRP and directly competing with any new models they are trying to sell.

I don't think the Camaro, as we know it, will still be in production when that time comes. I suspect we won't see the market stabilize until 2025.

My dealer was offering the employee discount if you were eligible, and any applicable rebates. I think that's probably the best you'll do in 2022.

I cannot tell you how many phone calls and e-mails for new Camaros but once i ask the forbidden question what the discount most want to get off the call ASAP. But then there are some that will ask whats your number so still optimistic i may still get one this year. ZL1 is my main focus but got to tell you 2ss is close behind

My dealer wants $3500 over sticker and won’t let me use my GM employee discount!
