2650 arrived! :) LPE pump check valve question
Hey guys,
Parts arrived Friday from JRE. Awesome service btw. Quote Monday, ordered Tues, everything arrived Friday! Keeping mods in sig (2” headers/95mm Soler, etc…). Goal is for a reliable street setup that I could hit the road course a couple times a year and run as much E85 as I can to keep things even safer. Not going for huge levels of boost right now. Prob won’t until I open the motor up and do cam/drop ins. Ted picked the kit 110mm and a 10% overdrive for starters. Now here’s the fuel system: LT4 low side with JMS LPE HPFP (backorder till June from XDI blah) XDI+30 injectors Should be able to run pretty high levels of E with that at least for now. Anyhow, my question is… the 2650 kit fuel line/routing eliminates the check valve. I read at least one shop eliminates the check valve on high HP builds but installs the LPE check valve when the LPE pump is used with the only reason to reduce a noise issue in the cabin with LPE pump and no check valve. Now this was likely mostly ZL1 builds. The 2650 kit for LT1 has a 3+ft braided fuel line, that in my mind could help to reduce the pulsations/noise - ZL1 has quite a bit of hard line. Anyone have any experience with this? I don’t have a problem adding in the LPE check valve, but then I’ll have to have custom hoses made to locate it <3ft from HPFP acc to LPE on the passenger side somewhere maybe around #2 or in front of the valve cover. Will have to figure that out if I decide to put one in. Thinking about running without and if I have some noise can always add it in, haven’t talked to Ted about it yet but thought I would see if any folks had experience here?

I am running LT4 line with no check valve and don't notice any noise.

Side note, given you have LPE on stock cam/valley cover what was involved lashcap/shim wise? I can’t see any reason for a lashcap on stock cam, but if the plunger is lower then a stock LT1 pump I could see a need for 2-3 shims. What did you have to do? (obviously I’ll measure preload and check to make sure not bottoming out, but it’ll at least give me a better idea of what to start with).

Didn't need anything for the stock cam.
