LT2 intake verdict: Tune or no Tune

Every thread was back and forth on this, so what is the final consensus now that people have had them on for a while?

LT2 intake needs a tune no matter what?

LT2 needs a tune only if going to the 95+ TB?

Stock 87 TB and LT2 are able to run w/ no tune?

I ran a stock throttlebody, non-ported lt2 and a rotofab for maybe a thousand miles and the wideband would read slightly rich (.83-.85 lambda) through the whole pull.

My tuner likes to see his tune to be in the 86 lambda WOT throughout the entire dyno pull.

Thanks for the input.

Anyone have the 95 + LT2 and was forced to get it tuned?

I already had the 95mm TB when I upgraded from my ported stock manifold to the LT2 (ported the snout only). There was essentially no meaningful difference in my WOT AFR. I'm sure there'd be more change going from stock everything to 95mm + LT2.

Any issues porting the LT2 intake snout ? how did you deal with the bolt pattern difference of the 87 and 95 mm throttle body? I have a LT2 intake on my car now along with a solar ported 87MM TB which is a 91 mm effectively TB. Do you think a 95 MM TB along with a ported snout to match the 95 mm TB is effective or a better way to go? My car is already tuned with my current LT2 and solar TB. No other mods..

I ran my LT2 and stock TB for 1000 miles before my tune with no issues.

I didn't have any issues opening up the snout of it. I just put my adapter plate on and opened it up to match. There's a lot you can remove there. I just made it a smooth transition between the 95mm TB adapter and the manifold opening.

I really couldn't say if the 95 mm gave any real difference, I only put it on when I was talked into it being a fix by my tuner for not being able to tune his cam to idle correctly. It didn't fix it.

So the 95 mm adapter takes care of the bolt up issue, and the adapter is 95mm thru and thru and not a neck down right? whos adapter and does it come with a gasket as I assume you go just beyond the Oring seal to get the snout out to 95 MM

Yea the adapter takes care of everything, came with a paper gasket. My adapter shipped with the throttle body so I'm not sure who actually made the part.

I actually stopped removing material just before I got into the seal area so I'm still using the rubber O-ring.
