Ugh, broke a stupid part - Glove box area

Hey,

I was dropping down my glove box and forgot to undo the dampener string. I ripped the string out of where ever it comes from and now I need to replace the assembly.

Can anyone help me with pointing out where that strings goes and the replacement assembly? Is it is this? https://www.gmpartsdirect.com/oem-pa...pport-23238786 When I search for 2017 camaro it doesn't come up but that kinda looks like the thing behind the glove box.

Appreciate any help!

The GM catalog says that part is not compatible, but 23498323 is. Other than that it's probably what you need, at least the name matches. Will try to check the 2018 service manual later, in case it has more info.

I looked at replacing it and it appears the whole dash comes out :(

I think I will be dealing with a slightly less fancy of a glove box

Nah, although there isn't much info in the service manual either, it does say you can get by removing only the (dreaded) lower cover under the glove box, check this out.
