The part that takes the longest on a project like this (as far as construction goes) would be sitework. Depending on how they bid this project, there could be several different sitework contractors working on this project in different ways so that could easily speed up the timeline.

I would guess that the biggest hurdle would be land acquisition as well as design/engineering.

Either way, I just hope they get it built and have a race before December 21st, 2012, just in case
Point. There are far more people in China than TX. We'll just stick the the JerryWorld example then

Would love to go. Haven't been to racetrack since the late 80's when I was getting free tickets to see the IROC races at the Michigan Int. Speedway. It has been that long since I left the GM Tech Center and head out to the West Coast. Love those IROC races.....

Whaaatttt The Houston Grand Prix Rocked . The last one they paraded all the decked out 18 wheelers right down Main St Downtown honking horns and all..... and the race was awesome around the Astrodome and Reliant Arena so they used no regularly traveled roads or actual streets.

You must be thinking Waaaaaay back in the day... you old geeezer...

That's Indy Car. F1 was in Dallas once, I beleive. I seem to remember Nigel Mansell pushing his car across the line. Memory is vague but I'm pretty sure it was at Dallas or Vegas that he did that.

Looks like they hired a firm to build it. Tilke, same guys who designed Malaysia and Abu Dhabi. Both tracks were opened within 2 years of breaking ground.

Those facilities are wild...the millions of dollars necessary is mind boggling. I didn't see anything about where this race will appear on the calendar.

I'm so excited about this! Being a Brit, and the from the land of Formula One and having been to several GPs at Silverstone, I am so excited to be able to go to one in the USA!

I just hope it's all done properly, marketed wisely and is a huge success!
I know I'm going for the full weekend, free practice, qualifying and the race! It'll be immense!
