Congrats Brett, that's an incredible time! The track rental at the end of the month is getting even more interesting now. This is one I don't plan on missing since we all know more records will be broken.

Now you have to put a roll bar in it.

In the current NHRA rules revisions for the 2013 NHRA Rule book!!

NHRA DRAGS: STREET LEGAL STYLE PRESENTED BY AAA (Page xiv) (5th paragraph)
Additionally Requirements and specifications for Street Legal are the same as those for the Summit Racing Series with the following exception: Unaltered 2008 OEM model year and newer production cars running slower than 9.99 and 135 mph do not have to meet the requirements and specifications for the Summit Racing Series except for the following: Convertibles and T-tops must meet Summit Racing Series Roll Bar and Roll Cage requirements, All drivers must meet the Summit Racing Series Helmet and Protective Clothing requirements.”

Simply what it says is if your car runs 10.00 (or slower) and slower than 135mph you do not need a roll bar unless the vehicle has a convertable top or T-tops than the old rule applies for them but the car has to be OEM stock and unaltered no mods.

They made some pretty drastic changes to that exact rule this past year... that's the 2013 version

It’s all up to who is doing your tech inspection. I had an older guy tell me I couldn’t run quicker than 11.49 and almost made me leave. Other times they dont even ask

Your kidding me, oh well it's your life. I'm sure glad I over built all my drag cars & lived to talk about it. I've personally seen guys die in a race car because of bad tech. inspectors & risking there life to go fast. One of my friends died years ago with a wife & 3 kids.

Good luck, hope you live to talk about it in the future.

These cars have an amazing crash rating. Side airbags etc. I’m really not sure a cage would make the car any safer at his level. Some of the airbags would be null for one thing.

If you just follow NHRA rules, you are g2g. Dont think I have ever saw a tech inspector enforce anything stricter than NHRA rules.

I agree, I wasn't trying to say anything different. NHRA puts the rules in place for a reason. SFI does the same. I've always had my drag cars go through chassis certification day which is a week before the season starts. An official NHRA tech. inspector checks out my car very thoroughly before I hit the track. If I pass, the NHRA inspector puts a chassis cert. sticker on my car that is good for 1 year & pay the $100 fee. That helps speed up tech. inspection before each race.
