No speaker sound

So went out to leave this morning and started my 2017 ZL1and noticed there was no sound from the speakers at all. Everything was on, but no sound from the head unit, blinkers, no seatbelt ding and no warning that the parking lights were on when I turned the car off and opened the door. So I went and had my day and had parked it for about three hours and came back out and started it with all working. WTF is that? Has this ever happened to anyone else? Of course this is the first time and since it came back on I can't take it in.

If it happens again, make a video so it’s obvious to a service writer.

Some power amps will so a Power On Self Test and if it detects a short (or thinks it sees a short) it will lock out in a “safe mode” until it sits key-off for a while. Not sure if the Bose unit does this, but it wouldn’t surprise me.

The amp does speaker diagnostics at startup. If there was an issue with a speaker, the diagnostics would retry, then disable that channel, if there was an issue. Cycling power would make the the amplifier reset and go through its diagnostics again. It would not disable all channels.

It sounds to me that there was something with the CAN bus.

Either way, the amplifier will store error codes, that are readable as DTCs over OBDII that the dealer can read.
